    Seatbelt Rattle Solution.

I have had my R8 for 3 weeks and finally found out where my small rattle is coming from. The seatbelt receptor at the bottom lower left hand side creaks and squeaks. It is the piece right next to the seat adjustment area. When I hold it still ,all creaking is gone. Can that piece be replaced or should I try to wedge something against it to hold it in place. No idea how or what to hold it from moving but maybe someone could give my an idea..I love this car and this is noise is driving me crazy.I am close to a solution. All help is appreciated!

If you are talking about the metal tab which is sewn into the lap belt and is bolted to the body, under a little flap in the carpet, then that bolt should NOT be loose. (I don't have my shop manual here to give you the proper torque.) Be aware there are little nubs on the tab which index into little recesses in the nutplate in the car body, this is to insure the tab points in the correct direction.

If you are not 100% comfortable working on this safety sensitive area, or if your rattle is from the shoulder harness retractor inside the B-Pillar trim, then I strongly suggest you take the car to the dealer to have this area inspected and repaired as necessary.

Hi Desparado, the bolt is not loose.Just the little play that the piece has ,is cuasing the rattle. The piece moves from side to side because everyone is a different size but when I firmly hold the piece against the side of the seat there is no noise.I really think the noise is not the metal tab but the plastic piece in which the seatbelt is attached to.Like I said it has to move side to side but when I drive it has a little platiscly type of rattle because of the movement. When secured by hand,no rattle.

Glad to know the belt is properly attached.

Just buy some self-adhesive black velcro coins at the home store. Throw away the "hook" side, and stick the "loop" (fabric) side to the belt's plastic piece where it touches the seat. That should take care of the rattle.

Thanks Desparado, I will try that but if you see in your own car, there is a huge gap between the plastic piece and where it touches the seat.If it was a real snug fit it would be perfect but the really is alot of play in the plastic seatbelt piece.

I'm going to have to check this out on my 2012. My 2011 didn't have the noise, but I have the same kind of noise you are describing on my 2012 and it's driving me absolutely bonkers. I haven't been able to find the source, but now that you mention this I'm going to check this spot and see if that's the source, cause it's **** annoying.

BlkwdwR8 ,when I hold that plastic piece firmly against the seat ,the noise dissappears.I jammed some velcro pads down there and hopefully that works but have not driven the car in the last 2 days.I hope it works. Please keep me updated if that is your source of rattling and if you have any other solution...Thanks
