Anyone got a rattle/belt whine when the car idles or is it just mine?

Not on idle, but mine has a slight whine when manoeuvring at low speed. I'm not sure what the cause is or if it's another 'characteristic' like the tyre judder.Probably worth getting yours checked out with it being new.

Use to have a rattle on both V8 engines when cold at idle..but on either V10 I have had none.

For peace of mind i suggest you drop into the dealer

I've done 1k miles now and it feels like a third of those are dealer trips... I should ask them to reset the mileage!!!!

I had a rattle on my two V8s, however not on the V10 spyder, what i did have on the spyder was a creaking from the hood when it was down, every time i went over a bump, the dealer never resolved that. Take the car to the dealer and leave with them overnight, the rattle on my V8s was more apparent when the car was started from cold.

If it's after you start the car, when completely cold, it may be the exhaust valves buffeting back and forth between open and closed.

It sounds like someone's thrown an empty tin can in the engine compartment for the first 15-20 seconds the car's running.

Hi Gazza, still got my Cayman S for the GT Car tours business and my daily is the Audi A1 which i am getting over 58 MPG from !

Hopefully the divorce should all be sorted before April 5th tax year, if it isnt my ex will have a rather large capitol gains tax problem but not meyself as i will keep the businesses.

Then, i am toying with the decision, do i carry through with my R8 GT spyder order or get a Ferrari California or Italia. one things for sure, no one will be telling me i cant !!

It's likely the FSI injectors working. Really easy to hear this when accelerating under heavy throttle with the window down alongside a wall or guardrail (to ricochet sound). Normal V8 cacophony, according to my service tech. I've learned to live with it, but it's odd.
