I personally love the existing GT lights....but you know that most people always think that newer is better!

Physically they fit ... SVM HAS TO BE modified ... buyers should know that!

SVM is done by approved Audi dealerships to code modules, update software or update the Audi vehicle database.

Please explain to everyone why this needs to be done online at a dealership. I do not understand why...
Did you post this on your own advert when you tried to sell these lights..I believe you also have some as "excess stock" ?

The reason for having to code the SVM is the error message you will get when plugging in the new tail lights (error message in your FIS). Your Audi dealer (or anyone with knowledge on VAGCOM) has to change the bit to clear the error message. Again it does not affect the function of the new 2013 tai lights they will work as soon as you connect them.

But this is not SVM my friend.....this is just Hex coding. SVM is done online...normally just through a four or six digit code.

I can just tell you what my local Audi dealer told me after his product training and he explicitly said "SVM code" ..

But however the one and only thing I kept in mind, work 100% with our old cars

I "imagine" that using the SVM (SoftwareVersionManagement) code your car gets configured with new configuration (instead of just "hardcoding" the new value which may get resetted whenever you get a new software update on your ECU's) ..

Well Steveo .. depends ... they work without coding just have to live with error message in your FIS wrt to the rear bulbs ... You want it perfect? No worries .. visit your local Audi dealer and he will do it for you. That easy. No Drama ..
