Yuck.
Stock wheels are much nicer than those on the R8.
IMHO, I don't think I've seen any wheels out there that beat the stock wheels in looks.

Hello Everyone,
I just thought I would chime in. I want to start by saying that I truly believe that Audi makes one of the best looking factory wheels on the market today. Our Chief Engineer agrees as well.
I would like to clarify a few things and explain HRE's continued dedication to being the premier aftermarket wheel manufacturer.
Regarding the finish issues. There seems to be two issues. First, the "staying shiny" issue. These wheels are not chrome. Only a straight polished wheel will lose it's shine. This can be solved with a clear coat or by going with a chrome finish. Second, the peeling. I am assuming that these wheels are more than three years old. The reason I say this is because for almost three years now HRE has been using Powder Clear Coat. It was previously necessary to use an acrylic clear coat similar to what is on your vehicles. As always, HRE will stand behind our wheels 100%. ALso, HRE now performs all finishing in house, including powder coating, with the exception of custom paint and chrome.
Many of you may not know that HRE recently became TUV Verified as a company and our Single Piece Forged Monoblok wheels are TUV Certified for Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes. Audi and Lambo are expected to be approved any day. In order to acquire and retain this status with TUV, HRE must perform at the highest levels in Operations, Manufacturing, and Customer Service.
For customers who drive their vehicles in all weather conditions HRE offers our Competition Series and Monoblok Series wheels. These wheels are not susceptible to the vibrations sometimes associated with reverse drop center forged wheels.
With regards to the effectiveness of cooling between HRE and Stock wheels, HRE has been used repeatdly on the worlds fastest cars. The recent Texas Mile record was shattered two weeks ago by a Supra running HRE C90's. The car went 241mph. Also, the SSC Aero(Shelby Super Car) that took the top speed production car record from the Bugatti Veyron hit 257mph on our 597R's.
I do agree with many of your opinions on styling, even though they have HRE's. Unfortunately all my customers have different tastes and I respect them all. No matter what I do I can never change someones mind on what they think looks good.
As a quick side note. HRE is thinking about having another exotic car gathering/open house at our facility in Vista. This is not a "sales" event, it is a great event that we have started doing about 3-4 times per year and it allows anyone to come in and see what exactly we do here at HRE. We will also perform special tours if anyone is interested.
I hope that this post has been informative and I have tried to keep it in line with the forum rules by simply posting information about HRE.
If anyone would like more details just post and I will answer them honestly.
Thank you for your time.
Finally ! I really appreciate my Stock R 8 wheels. They are not fully polished, rather Polished edges , silver mettalic finish on insides. When they are clean they are just as sweet as the polished/clear powder coated ones. I assumed they are forged but I've heard otherwise. Some-one please show us a stock set chromed out BLINGMEGA , That 20 inch carbon fibre wheel with magnesium center looking raw ,would convert me though .I'll dig up a pic. Anyone have a pic of those?HRE has a very cool lineup.
