Lightbulb What color calipers best on Jet Blue??

I am having a tough time deciding what color brake calipers to use on a Jet Blue R8. Yellow and red just don't seem right for my '8. Maybe same body color blue? or fully polished, they are big so whatever the color,it should stand out.Black chome is out of the question-Heat build-up ! But I have mentioned before that the calipers run very cool. The calipers are VERY well ventilated. But I hear the brakes can boil the fluid sometimes.

But I hear the brakes can boil the fluid sometimes
It is theoretically possible to boil any brake fluid in any car, but the fall off in braking performance is usually disasterous...boiling brake fluid being one of the commonest reasons for "brake fade." I would think Audi would spec something like Castrol SRF or a brake fluid that meets DOT 5.1 (or the DIN equivalent), which if fresh should be nearly impossible to boil under actual conditions.

Drop in boiling point with acquisition of water by all glycol based brake fluids is the reason ALL high performance cars specify frequent (should be yearly for an R8 that is tracked, I would think) brake fluid changeovers.

Of course, there's the option of a silicone based fluid (DOT 5), but supposedly they cause unacceptable "soft pedal" in most performance cars (never driven a car with silicone brake fluid). Since I am not yet an owner, could someone tell me what does the R8 manual specify re brake fluid?

PS: Harrison, I got so carried away thinking about boiling brake fluid, I forgot to address your question! Sorry! I agree that the common bright red and yellow calipers seen so much on Porsches, etc., do not look right with Jet Blue. Jet Blue is my color choice of the stock colors, so I am interested in the opinions on this. You mentioned "polished". To the best of my recollection, I have not seen that. Does is look like the polished alloy wheels? That might be a good choice. Or black? How about a Mugello Blue, if such was available?

I would not like the red or yellow either. I know you went with a black chrome for the wheels. Are they fully black chrome or is there some other color/finish on parts of the rim? Is the valve stem still silver? How about the brake rotors? Did you paint the silver centers to make them blend in better?

Perhaps a silver like the brake centers & valve stem might be a decent option. If your side blade was a painted color, maybe that color (but you have the CF)? I like the looks of the ceramic brake calipers. They are something different, than the black that is presently available in the US.

Jet Blue is a tough one. What about Ice Silver or a shade or two darker than Jet Blue?

Did you pick a color yet Harrison? I think yellow would look nice. I mean you want something to "pop" otherwise why bother with a color that just blends in? Gray, silver, black all blend in.

Unless you put these rims then any caliper color would "pop".
