Opinion on colour for my V10 Spyder

Good afternoon,

I have already had two R8 V8's one in grey and 1 black, i have had notification to go and spec up my V10 Spyder on 1st Nov 09 ( had a speculative deposit on one for 2.5 years now ! )

The question is what colour? i have two in mind, 1 standard colour choice is suzuka grey which is i think is a white pearlesant colour?? or a special colour, Sepang blue.

Has anyone seen an R8 in the flesh in either colour and with what interior, the decision is also made more difficult as there will be a choice of 3 soft top colours, black, red and brown.

If anyone has any pics of r8's in these colours would very much appreciate seeing them and your opinions,

I'm planning on getting a red spyder

Personally I'm not a fan of suzuka grey and I love the sepang blue, which I've chose for my V10, but this isn't me being biased its just the one I would choose out of the 2 colours you've mentioned.

There aren't many pictures of the Spyder with it's hood up, and I think the only ones i've seen have been black, will be interesting to see the other colours so hopefully people have pics to post Here are a few colours of the Spyder I've seen:

Do you think that white one is Suzuka ? im thinking the blue will look much nicer and dont want my mates winding me up about white being a girls colour!!

Thinking Sepang blue, black soft top with white bucket seats, or the blue with red top and red bucket seats, dont know what cost option the bucket seats will be over the standard shape ones but no doubt will go on UK Aaudi web site soon

Respect for you waiting list staying power! It's quite difficult to tell from a pic between Suzaka and Ibis from a distance, you tend to spot it when they are side by side more obviously. FWIW I prefer the Red spyder to the white one, although Sepang is cool too. Depending on where you are I'd have a good look at the Exclusive options and get a good dealer that can show you the options, for some reason that seems tougher in the US?

I see you're in the UK and formally ordering the spyder, come 11/1. Do you have an officla Audi Order Guide yet, even if the UK version? Seems the V10 guide came out over there before in the U.S., too. I still can't get any solid insights from any of the U.S. dealers I've often worked with.


Re colors, I know the red is not a common color, but the spyder sure looks good in red, with gray/black interior. My current 2009 V8 is ice silver, but I'd really prefer the Daytona Gray, if I could have found it. And....the ever-popular black in spyder or coupe is always very nice.

Color is always such a personal decision. Lighter colors for ease of upkeep and heat reflection, plus night time safety and darker colors for more drama and accenting the fine lines of the car.

After seeing so many RED F430s around towne , I wish my R8 was RED too. A red spyder with the brown top and matching brown upholstery would be my choice.

The Spyder is now showing on the UK Audi site, here is a link;

The price is set at just under £110,000, you can look at the colour choices and wheels but no soft top choices showing yet, i think it is being launched in the UK before the States, it was the same with the RS4 and the V8 R8.

Called dealer this weekend and he confirmed i can go in on 1st of Nov to spec up and they will have all info in the showroom with fabric choices, paint choices and leather choices, delivery will be around March 2010.
