Both material is made by 3M (or owned by the 3M company). The 3M usually is usually pre-cut and has a history of becoming yellow and "orange-peeled".
I chose the VentureShield because the material is not supposed to have those characteristics, and it is also usually wrapped around the edges as much as possible. Thus a lot of the pieces are cut on the job as they are being applied.
None of these products are perfect! Mine has some defects also, but overall, my job was very good. It is hard to tell that any protection is on the car. (I had 2 cars done and both were done very well.)
Reputation is the most important factor in choosing an installer. I traveled up to Seattle to use one who was highly recommended. When I noted a small problem with a corner of one section once I got the car home, the Seattle guys called an installer here in Portland who fixed it and who seems to be very good and knowledgeable as well. I might try him if I needed another job. But, as someone in a previous post said, the car prep is the most important first step in installing these shields. So you need the shield installer to work right with the detailer.
In the Bay area...Premier is the place to go, and I would have traveled down there if the place in Seattle hadn't been recommended by another forum member.

Yeah, the guy has been working all day; literally. He started at 10:00 and has literally been working till 7:30. Hell, he might still be there, I didn't want to interrupt him. He has the garage closed and tented over the car. I really am pulling for him because he's working so hard but I'm definately making this his last try.

If it doesn't work out, talk to Sam at Premier. He'll do it right the first time.

Hope things work out for you. I had a similar experience except that I had 2 different installers do this and both times it turned out horrible. I then took it to Sam and his team at Premier upon some high recommendations from quite a few Ferrari owners, and they got it done right the first time. Their work is the best IMO and their service is exceptional as well.
I've seen quite a few of Premier's cars (at their SoCal open house event) including a Testarossa and their workmanship is outstanding.

Well the bad news is I should have asked you guys to start with and got a bad first job. The good news is, it seems to look ok. I checkd it this morning and it looks perfect. I'm going to let it dry for a few days (it's raining here anyways) and then we will see.
