3 pc., 2 pc., 1pc. doesn't matter. as long as the offsets chosen don't ruin the handling. A while back Porsches 16' inch wheels would be cut up and face/spokes re-used as 2 or 3 pc. wheels of much wider sizes. A less expensive alternative to buying new 13' widths, or turbo wheels. On the 911 a 1/2 inch spacer on rear only would DESTROY the handling. And if you were to damage a Modular 3 pc. you can disassemble the wheel and replace the damaged part.

Those look like SDS wheels. A limited run were made for Gallardo and R8 around the middle of last year and the company is (from what I know) out of business...

Multiple piece rims have been around for a very long time and are used on everything from farm machinery to F1 race cars.

It's an interesting comment that you've made and I just wonder why you feel this way. - And please, I'm not bagging on you, I'm genuinely curious, as I'm one that tucks away info (both useless and important) in my pea brain.

Is there any x-over wheel fitments between the Gallardo's and the R8's?
I would assume there ought to be, but with wheels, the devil is often in the details.
Is there a listing of Gallardo wheel specs to compare to the Audi's offsets etc.?

I'm guessing there are probably more R8's being tracked than Gallardos.
