Here's something you fellow R8 fanatics may like. The cap on the steering fluid reservoir was crooked when I tightened it down fully. I wanted it to be exactly horizontal to match the oil fill cap. If I left it slightly loose so that it was horizontal, then when I went around curves fast, the fluid sloshed out a bit. So I removed the engine trim there to see if I could turn the reservoir or the threaded portion that the cap screws to, to see if I could turn those to straighten it out. Neither were easily possible.
I did find a fix. I got one of those plastic packages (blister packs, I think) that are used lots these days, like what compact flourescent light bulbs come in, as a source of plastic to make a spacer. I cut the proper sized doughnut to fit the cap, and the thickness of it is just right to straighten out the cap. And it's liquid tight and seems to be oil proof.
If you make one yourself, be sure to cut the inner diameter large enough to fit around (and not on top of) the special rubber grommet in the cap.
Here's a before shot with the spacer there next to it, followed by a picture of it afterward. That's the Carbonio airbox cover by the way.
cheers,
mt
