LED foot rest

Hi everyone, I bought an April 09 r8 v8 and a BMW 750 in Jan 10. The BMW has an orange lit BMW logo on the metallic plate when u open the door (I.e. On the r8 when u open the door, there is a metal plate with a strip and r8 written on it). I really like that and wished the r8 had it too. I was watching a YouTube video on the r8 spyder ( GRIP review of the r8 spyder) and noticed that when the door was opened, the strip and the r8 logo was backlit with LEDs like the BMW. Therefore was wondering if anyone knows the part no.'s of the led lit foot rests that are on the r8 spyders and if u know if they could be retro fitted onto a v8 r8. I checked at the local dealer and they have no clue as they didn't get any r8 spyders and are saying they r the same part in both and that they don't have led lit footrests. Hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance for any kind of help with this, kt

Rich at OemPLus (a site advertiser ) has these parts in stock. I will pull the trigger on a pair as well . My Jet Blue R8 will love the blue,back-lit sill plates. and me too.

I'm not sure Rich has A set but he does have a plan to retrofit them to a 08/09 car. He just needs somebody to move forward with the mod.

Hi all, thanks for the replys. Well I am willing to do it as I know the car dealer personally and they r willing to do the mod for me, but they don't know which parts they need to order. If someone can guide me, I can be the guinea pig :-)

The illuminated sills come as an option on later model R8s.They were not available on '08s.

Here's the post with the part numbers if you want to go it alone, splice into the power yourself. Rich @ OEM has evaluated the wiring diagrams from cars with the sills and has a kit ready for the first install, if you can get to his place in CA.

I've contacted Rich & will be getting the sills done as soon as they arrive from Germany. Should be relatively soon. I'll post pics when done.

Hi all, I wish I can just drive down to CA, but I am based in muscat, Oman :-) roasting away in the summer heat :-). I guess what I will do then is get a quote for the sills and then wait till the guide to retro fit is out. I hope all goes smooth with the primary test car at OEM plus. Kt
