DIY- Yellow Calipers and Carbon Wrap

I spent the last two weekends transforming my R8. The nice thing is everything is reversible with the exception of the yellow calipers!

Thanks to Harrison for his advice on the calipers. It actually turned out really nice. I painted the entire front grill black. Carbon fiber vinyl wrap was done to rear fins, front bumper area, door handles, side mirror area, rear spoilers and center wheel caps. The wheels were powder coated with the help of Rich from OEMplus a few months ago, but the yellow stripes are just high quality vinyl decals.

I will try to post another 5 photos in a second thread.

    Nicely done!
Let us know how the wrap on the rear louvers stands up to the heat from the exhaust. I know mine get pretty hot, and I would not have thought of using film in this location.

So far, no material has lifted yet after a few morning drives.
You are right, it definitely gets pretty hot back there!
Let's give it more time, and see if it will work!

Re: DYI- Yellow Calipers and Carbon Wrap

Props for even attempting a DIY on the calipers. I want to have mine done, but don't think I'd feel comfortable enough with the outcome. I was quoted about $100 per caliper from a body shop though, plus labor for disassembling and reassembling brakes...

That's a good price. If I had to do it again, I would choose to have s bodyshop do it.

Nice !! Let us know how the matte finish cleans up. You obviously chose matte over the glossy look. (personal preference ?) Was everything dissassembled before wrapping ? The spoiler is a complicated animal. And dissassembling mirrors is a job too !! Time consuming to say the least. Job well done, and you now have a trick car.

I used vinyl decal for the wheels. So once I am sick of it, I will peel it off!

Nothing was taken apart including the front grill paint.
The carbon fiber wrap is actually pretty easy to use.
    It just takes time....
