The top ten colour choices in the UK (January - November 2010):

There is a lot of talk about colour choices at the moment, so the UK being the for-runner in fashion i thought i would give you an insight into what’s ahead! ( for our American friends please add 2 years to this trend, only joking!! )

& in tenth place;

10: brown
Cars sold: 6,967
Percentage share: 0.4

9: yellow
Cars sold: 7,621
Percentage share: 0.4

8: beige
Cars sold: 17,237
Percentage share: 0.9

7: green
Cars sold: 20,735
Percentage share: 1.1

6: white
Cars sold: 188,463
Percentage share: 10 ( I thought this would have been higher placed, it was last year so guess whites on its way out )

5: red
Cars sold: 192,335
Percentage share: 10.2

4: grey
Cars sold: 270,863
Percentage share: 14.4

3: blue
Cars sold: 310,331
Percentage share: 16.5 ( thats mine! )

2: silver
Cars sold: 402,537
Percentage share: 21.4 ( Thats also mine )

1: black
Cars sold: 465,249
Percentage share: 24.7 ( Thats mine too! )

But where is Samoa orange, oh dear, too late

That confirms my feelings that Silver is the most popular color for cars.

While I am no fan of silver as a car color (I prefer black by far and red for certain cars), no other color shows the lines of a car better than silver.

I respectfully disagree ;-) I think black hides the lines of the R8 and lighter colours bring out the subtlety of the shape - especially around the carbon/black bits. Just my humble opinion...

I did not say black shows the lines the best. I said silver does, which is a light color. So you are actually agreeing with me.

I don't get the fascination with black. It's impossible to keep clean and shows both dirt and surface scratches to the clear coat more than any other color, I believe. My Spyder V10 is Phantom Black Pearl and it could stand a wash after each use! Needless to say, I'm not going to wash my car daily, so I'll just have to wash it frequently and remember my experience with black next time I'm shopping so I won't make the same mistake again. Even my Ghost White Pearl Bentley Continental GTC Speed doesn't show dust or spiderweb scratches to the clear coat so I'm staying away from dark cars altogether, especially black. My next R8 will probably be silver or one of the grays (though I think Teak, Jet Blue, & Ipanema Brown are all exceptional colors and will consider them, as well).
