    Satin Black ADV.1 Wheels

I just ordered these wheels in satin black and am excited about getting them installed. It'll take 4 - 6 weeks since they are made-to-order so subscribe to this post and you'll get notified when I post pics of them on my Phantom Black Spyder.

I am using my OEM tires and not getting oversized wheels as I don't see the point.

The set isn't cheap but doesn't break the bank, either: $5350 including transfer of TPMS sensors, mount, balance and install back on car. For an extra $400, the factory will machine center caps with the 4-ring Audi logo.

    Can't wai!

Wow! Excellent purchase. I'm a huge fan of ADV.1 wheels. My buddy had them on his Heffner TT R8. You picked a gorgeous set. Can't wait to see them installed. By the way, the picture of the R8 you posted is slammed!!!

True, that car is sure riding low. Too bad it's so troublesome to lower a car because it sure looks good when a sleek car is lowered. Maybe I should suggest in the Sticky to the Audi R8 Development Team the idea of a lowering/raising system that would allow the car to look hunkered down at rest but automatically raise up to an appropriate driving height determined by speed of travel (high off the ground at lower speeds and hunkered at higher). With today's mini-computers in cars there is no reason why such a system would be prohibitively complicated/expensive/problematic and would be one more way to sell us tricked out goodies for our exotic cars. Otherwise, some enthusiasts pay good money to mess up their cars by lowering them too much and then have tires rubbing fenders and front ends all scraped up. Money better spent on a ride height system if only one were offered.

The wheels should still look great on a car that hasn't been slammed.

I ordered the same wheels model but in matt bronze. They are now at customs so expect to get them here shortly. I did not know ADV could provide the center caps with the Audi rings ?! I will have to add those ones ! thanks for the tip. I'll mount back my summer tires on them so probably no pics before warmer days; it is still freezing down here.

What my dealer offered me for $100 per cap is an aluminum cap painted in satin black (or bronze in your case) that will be machined so that the rings will be etched into the surface and left unpainted so that you see the rings in bare metal. What I asked them to do, however, and I am awaiting a response, is to machine the cap background so as to have the rings raised. That will make painting a bit difficult for them so perhaps I'll ask them to leave the entire center cap bare aluminum and clear coated, but they haven't yet told me whether or not they can emboss the Audi rings raised instead of etched and recessed so I'll get back to you once I get their answer.

BTW, how much price difference is there between what I am paying and what your dealer charged you? You've got ocean freight and I have domestic truck freight so there's an advantage there for me, plus I don't have duties and VAT to pay so I'm guessing you're paying a good 25% premium over what we pay in the States, am I correct?

    Re: Satin Black ADV.1 Wheels

Just heard from my local ADV.1 dealer and the best the factory can offer is to machine the logo into the center cap, not raised or embossed. They sent me a picture of what it would look like (except using their logo, not the Audi rings) which I am attaching here. I'll get the satin black lug nuts as well and it should look awesome on my Phantom Black Spyder!

Just curious....why not just keep the ADV center caps? They look pretty cool.

Now that I've seen a good pic of them I just might do that and save the extra $400. I think the Audi linked rings would look cool, too. Really nice wheels no matter what the center cap looks like!
