By the way, peterh, fantastic color on your car. May I ask what what that paint cost? My coworker is also interested in the R8 though she has yet to order but wants an orange one.

As far as my Velvet Purple, it was a pretty pricey upgrade through Audi Exclusive. $2500 just for the privledge to order from the cataloge, then each option (leather, paint) additional. Paint alone was a staggering $8500.

It's not $2500 + 8500. It's $2500 for any Audi color and $6000 for any color you can think of.

Audi Exclusive has several "Premium" colors that are stupid expensive. If your co-worker just wants a color deviation, if a standard Audi color (Glut Orange, Solar Orange), that can be as little as $2500 and you dont have to go through Audi Exclusive.

peterh & omeletpants - Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to my co-worker. So having your color is slightly more affordable than I though. I considered myself but realized that it would really be expensive to fix paint chips and scratches.

There should not be a $1200 catalog charge for paint alone. Did you have something else added from the Audi Exclusive option list, like special interior trim, etc. Paint should be a one time charge of $6000

I pretty much ordered the entire Audi Exclusive catalog. Leather Pkg 2, custom headliner, leather controls, leather center console, AE floor mats, as well as the paint.

So, the catalog charge was for those items not the paint. The paint charge is $6000 not $10,000
