    LMS Engine Cover

I can't believe that the R8 has been on the market for over 4 years and we still don't have any parts filtering down from the LMS for purchase!!!

I would really like to purchase the Polycarbonate Engine cover & rear wing.
Does anyone have any connections? I wanna buy now!!!

    Maybe Gazza?

Mate I have sent a email off to Romolo who is Project Team Manager for Audi LMS Customer Sports Worldwide and was in charge at Bathurst.

If any one can do it he is the guy.

I somehow think though, they will only allow parts for LMS customer clients, but it's worth a try.

As a Plan B have you thought about removing the glass and replacing it with perspex or similar?

I can't see why you can't get them made the wing not a problem and the engine cover shouldn't be I would think a race prep shop could get or make you them if you have the money you can do what ever you want normally.

I'm sure you can find a specialized shop who can manufacture the polycarbonate window for you to be similar in look to the LMS unit

Already worked on R8 LMS parts through a fair number of sources who deal with Audi Sport and the will only sell parts to owners of R8 LMS. It would be great to see if anyone else can get some of these parts.

Hmmm, Audi is starting to Pi$$ me off! So basically, they won't support their current R8 customer base who want to participate in some club sprints or racing...

I guess they just expect their R8's to sit outside cafes, bars n restaurants...

At Porsche you can get any GT3 or RS component and bolt it straight onto your Carrera S! There are plenty of race parts available and racing is in their blood!

Maybe be my next car will be a Porsche GT3. I'm starting to get over this...Maybe the R8 is not for me... Sad, because it has soo much potential, yet NO support.

**** Apologies for the rant. I've just spent the last 2 weeks trying to get my car ready for some club sprints! Feel like I'm reinventing the wheel. ****

Bz888, Porsche is the same way. They will only sell hi performance parts that correspond to the particular Porsche model VIN number that you own. They will check everything before selling you parts. The only advantage of Porsche is that there are so many hi quality after-market parts for Porsche track cars.

So in that respect, you are correct..., we Audi R8 owners are, unfortunately, reinventing the wheel. Or at least trying to invent a GT3 model R8. The PPI R8 Razor GT3 is the R8 that we want. LOL,,,, But how to get that car to price out to a Porsche GT3 price?

Thumbs up Re: LMS Engine Cover

I've come to the conclusion that the my R8 is a great DD as well as a very fun occasional trak car. It is just too heavy, one can only throw a heavy rock so far. I get so jealous when I see the light-weight doors/panels/parts available for Pcars. (as MnGolfer taught me to refer to our cousin mark). I'll bet a pair of R8 doors weights close to 350 lbs. If the R8 could weigh a thousand pounds less, then I might stop dreaming of moving on up. What more could an enthusiast ask for...An R8 with all the track features and creature comforts, and... weighs 2800 lbs. (But does'nt cost 300G). Keep dreaming...
