    Deactivate rear spoiler

Just wanted to let everyone know that i did find a way in VAGcom to disable the rear spoiler

there was a long coding helper on one of the bytes in CEntral electic 09

the reason i did this was because i had installed a fixed spoiler and it came with a dongle that was soposed to deactivate the spoiler.

it deactivated the spoiler button, but at the 77mph an error code was on the dash (the speed the spoiler raises automatically)

thought i would share the info.

if anyone needs a walkthrough PM me

    Re: Deactivate rear spoiler

I thought the rear spoiler deploys at 100 km/h (62.5 mph).

Do you mind sharing with us which fixed spoiler you've installed?

I worry a little bit about aftermarket spoilers in the sense of whether they're actually doing the job of adding downforce or if they are there just to look good.

I believe you are correct as I notice mine deploys between 62-64 mph. Not sure about the aftermarket spoilers. I happen to like the look of the OEM even though I don't know if it does much other then look cool.

I would be very surprised if the OEM spoiler did nothing other than look cool, especially after the debacle Audi faced with the Mark I TT. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the OEM rear spoiler actually adds downforce or if it's preventing the airflow from getting under the rear of the car which then destabilises the entire rear end.

I believe this guy had the Rieger GT-style rear spoiler fitted.
