Wheel shopping - Carbon or not

Right I've always liked the idea of light wheels makes everything handle much better

So been looking for some lightweight track wheels and I've come across these

They are one piece carbon fibre about 50% lighter than alloy wheels
    RRP: Custom order around $12,000

Or do I go for some nice HRE P40 19inch?

It doesn't seem carbon wheels are that tried and tested yet.
So do I go alloy or try carbon?
    What would you guys do?

Those look sweet! PRICEY though. I once saw a Koenigsegg with factory carbon wheels and I was hooked.

those Carbon wheels as amazing as they are, have not been tested.

I would suggest going with a set of HRE's in 19", maybe the HRE Comps, which are some of the lightest wheels in production today.

    they are £1500

The carbon wheels sure are beautiful! A set of lightweight forged wheels is probably a safer bet for strength and longevity. I would do some 18" one piece forged wheels, lighten them with back pocketing where available and still maintaining integrity to bounce of curbs/strips on track without issue. The 18" size also yields a whole host of true track tires.

If you are interested I can work with you on the ADV.1 or Rotiform forged wheels, don't hesitate to ask for more information.

    Cheers,

Alex, what do you think of the new ADV TRAKfunction wheels?

You've got Forged 60/61-T6 materials and the same quality as the other wheels, however without the concave profiles or the custom profiles which saves on costs. I think the TRAKfunction is a great way for someone to step into 3 piece forged wheels at a more reasonable price, though you miss some of the perks of their 3 piece and the TRAKspec lines. Really depends on what you want out of the wheels.

As others have mentioned before we can definitely get you into some lightweight forged wheels.

A 19X11 TRAKfunction will weigh in at 21lbs, and that drops down to 19lbs with our race prep options. We can take things further with our Titanium fasteners which remove over 1.6lbs of unsprung mass from the wheels.

Drop me an email if you'd like some more info!
