Carbon MMI and side mirrors on, finally.

Well, it took two tries to get the MMI piece fitted properly. Blindly fishing metal clips out of the dash with a magnet wand was no fun. If you want to do the install yourself, make sure you tape the dash section around the top seam before removing the old piece and seat the top section of the new piece first. Maybe you can avoid the poor initial fit I had.

I never could get the motor out of the mirror. The tabs didn't seem to release for me. So, growing uncomfortable with the amount of effort to remove it, I put it back together, swallowed my pride and had the dealer install the mirror parts. He snapped the tabs trying to get the motor out so a new motor is on the way. At least he did it so I won't have to pay for the new motor.

I'm very pleased with the look of both the MMI and mirror parts. Body colored mirrors just looked wrong to me next to a carbon blade. I didn't like the light grey/silver stock MMI part either. A nice side benefit of the carbon mirrors is that all you see from the cabin is carbon. No more distracting blue pods in my side windows. Here are the before and afters:











Now to get rid of that chrome on the grille. Are black V10 grilles available yet?

That looks really good, Steve. The mirrors really do set themselves off much better than body color.

and then it's search time.

Heh, yeah. Those are good times. I had this sinking feeling after losing two or three of them down there that I would have to hear the metalic tinkle of those clips in my dash from then on. They can drop so far in there I never though I would get them all.

Looks excellent. Love that blue! It's one of the only colors with which the orange side blinkers kind of work with.

Thanks. I've wanted a blue/black mid-engine car since I was 15. When a salesperson and his manager said they thought the car would be ugly, it raised some doubts in my mind (I still have that email). After all, at one point in my childhood I thought I wanted a purple Stingray with the giant metalflakes you used to see on dunebuggies in the 70s.

So far I am really happy with it.
