Had a bit of fun yesterday with the new tire changing machine.
Pilot Super Sports on ADV's.
I'm not sure I'm happy with the color of the rims - they're a bit lighter than I was expecting/wanting. It would appear that it's just a trans-gray powder coating - nothing special. (and not done exceptionally well - there are fish eyes in some areas, which is a disappointment considering the cost of the rims). Poor prep work leads to poor finish. On the lighter side, it's nothing I can't do a better job of and make the color I want.
I may have to make new rim centers also - those that come with the rims are a bit busy and would have looked much better if they didn't have the little spokes in the outer edge and if they'd waited to machine out the ADV logo until after powder coating (which doesn't match the rims very well). Just my opinion, though - and once again, I can make it better. (it's nice having a fab shop)
I can't wait to see how these new tires work, but alas, I shall wait for the new car to arrive (expected 20, June) before I find out - they will not go on the present car.
The new ride will NOT be driven with P-Zeros. What you see in the pix will be installed before it leaves the dealership.![]()
