Colour choice

Well, my V10 goes into production in week 29...... but a bomb shell was dropped on me today.
My colour of choice is Daytona Grey. This colour is no longer available due to the factory producing it is in Japan and has been wiped out. Audi has no idea
when it will become available.
Has anyone seen the R8 in Silver.......Help please.

There are some silver ones for sale on Dupont and ebay. I don't like it. Seven or eight years ago silver was a hot color but not now IMO.

Ibis White or Ice Silver? Help!

There are plenty of great choices; Ibis White, Ice Silver, Lava Grey, Suzuka Grey, Sepang Blue, Phantom Black.

Lately I'm partial to the Sepang, and it's a V10-only color.

Of course, you can't go wrong with white! In many cars it looks like a plumber's truck, but in the R8 with CF blades and mirrors it is very striking!

I've got Daytona Grey, and the only other color I would have liked was Ibis White.

Having said that, I am also a fan of Sepang Blue and Phantom Black on the V10.

I can't say that I believe Sepang Blue will age well, though. That's not to say it won't.

Agree lots of threads on this but I went with Ibis white, it arrived 1 week ago and have to say IMO it was the right chocie from all comments ive had.

Very pleased with mine in silver (I posted pics here: V10 Coupe - Ice Silver / Carbon Blades / Grey Alcantara ) - easy to keep it looking good and it has good contrast with the black trim and shows off the cars lines well. White and suzuka grey would give more visual impact imo - but it depends on what your basket of "wants" from the colour choice are.

Have you thought of using another Audi Color under exclusive paint?

For me Ibis White suits a R8 perfectly.

Silver is old and boring(no offense intended) but it does show the R8 lines nicely

Saw a Sepang Blue V10 go past on the Autobahn in Germany last month.I have never been a fan of this color in photos but on the road it looked really gorgeous.

Good luck as color choice is generally tormenting.

Hi Guys, thanks for your thoughts. I've asked Audi to confirm which colours are available for week 29 production. My feeling is that all the pearl colours come from Japan.
This may mean that Sepang blue and Lava grey and Suzuka Grey may also be in doubt.
Wait and see I guess.

I did make a point when I went on the factory tour 5 weeks ago if the situation in Japan would have any effect on making R8's due to a shortage of any critical parts such as electronic switches etc which they confirmed are sourced from other parts of the world including Japan.

My guides advised that due to the relativity low volume build numbers they had a reasonable supply of everything required but if the situation didn't improve down the road some impacts would be felt.

I guess this is now starting to happen.

Choice of colors depends on your location. In the US, Suzuka grey has never been an option. Daytona grey pearl as well as brown and red have been dropped from the 2012 line whereas other pearl colors remain available. As of now Audi Exclusive colors have not been determined and are not available. I also had wanted Daytona grey.

Decided to go against the grain and not get ibis white. Liked the contrast with black and how silver created more depth along the car contours. Not sure I would call this color "boring" but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
