Converting V8 to V10 rear bumper

I know a few here have done it and searched but could not find any threads. I checked some prices online and then contacted a local high end body shop that specializes on Audi's to do the work. They told me they would prefer to order all the parts directly from Audi instead of me supplying. They got back to me with a quote that was pretty much the same as I what I found plus about another $1,800 in labor including painting rear quarter panels to make sure bumper blends in perfectly. For those who have done were there any issue with fitment?

Bolts right on. You can do it yourself quite easily too. It's just a bunch of fasteners holding it on and making sure you take things off in the correct order. Figure an hour to get it off and the same to put it back on.

If you wait until the end of the month, I plan on doing a full write up on how to take off/put back on both bumper facia and the mirror pods. I'll be pulling them to make some mods when my new one gets in.

I'm the guy who had problems trying to put sprintbooster on Since it needs painting anyways I figure better to just have them do whole thing. Hopefully whoever buys my car next year appreciates I do it right

I definitely don't think, nor would I recommend painting rear quarter panels to "blend" rear bumper. It's not necessary, and I wouldn't want anything painted unless there were some sort of damage/or body work needed.
Sounds to me that they are just looking to make a few extra $$.

Not to mention....... the rear bumper is viewed on its own, and not really seen from the profile of the car. "Blending" paint is really only necessary when the parts/panels being viewed are next to each other. I.e. door to front/
    rear, fender.
    Make sense?

@RS4Cab: get the parts, then a good paint shop will do the work and fit it on...

So the question is really, should you pay $1800 to paint that part and bolt it on... sounds excessive.

Figure doing that way labor cost would be maybe 1/2, I'm lazy and don't mind the extra price for convenience, Also this shop came highly recommended to me by people who have had work done on their very high end Porsche's and Ferrari's

Everything ordered from Europrice and will be shipped to my body shop. Want to thank Alex who made it very easy and nice dealing with someone so knowledgeable about our cars.
