Genuine Audi LED Licence Plate Bulbs - the wait is over

Without further ado, I give you a screenshot from ETKA which I believe shows the LED licence plate bulbs direct from Audi.

No more will you have to deal with sub-standard bulbs which melt from your US-based bulb manufacturers for today-forth you can now purchase the real deal from your local Audi dealer*

*subject to independant hands-on verification to be 100% certain.

Notice how the bulb holder item 20 was only valid to 30.05.2011 and the bulb item 21 also only valid to 30.05.2011 whereas item (20) valid from 30.05.2011 is a single unit with no corresponding bulb. This can mean only one thing, this is the LED licence plate bulb!

What we do know is that alfessex confirmed after speaking with Audi that the only update to the R8 model released after his was the LED licence plate bulbs.

alfessex has only just recently taken delivery of his R8 which would coincide with the 30.05.2011 dated change to the licence plate bulbs from regular filament bulbs to LEDs.

I am 99.9% positive these are the LED bulbs.

I've ordered a pair and should be able to report back this time next week.

Note that my UltraLEDs are still working flawlessly, I am ordering these to keep the genuine Audi part theme and to check if they really are the LED licence plate bulbs.

Sounds good. I went through 3 different sets of aftermarket bulbs with no success, so it will be great if these are what we are looking for!

Put in an order at my dealership. $60 each CDN or so. It'll take a least a couple weeks.

Any idea if these will fit elsewhere on the car? Door lights?

No because they are a solid unit designed for the licence plate aperture but I will know more when I get my hands on them ie if there is an LED bulb inside which can be removed although I highly doubt it because the unit is sold as a single piece.

There are dedicated LED bulbs from the likes of ultraleds.co.uk which fit the doors.
