Has anyone added contrast stitching to thier existing R8. If so did you use a general upholstery shop and what was the cost to change it? Any recommendations Thanks

I think he means has anyone had someone take their oem seats and have contrast stitching put in place of existing ,non colored stitching that was originally there. Seems like a lot of work to have done after the fact, but if it could be done for a reasonable price, I'd consider it.

I had my entire interior redone with Alcantara seat inserts, doors in Alcantara, steering wheel, gauge hood, navigation surround, & center console, all in black Alcantara with red stitching. It really improves the car's otherwise bland, all-black, monotonous interior, IMO.
It wasn't cheap, though: the steering wheel alone was $1300 including the column, and the rest of the interior was $6400. I'll get little, if any, of that back when I trade her in on an R8 Spyder GT, but I enjoy the car much more because of its really special interior.

Beautiful work on your interior.
I took my 2011 v10 to a local custom upholstery shop in Orange County, CA to inquire about having my door panels redone in two tone leather and also leather added to the dash. The owner of the shop discouraged me and said redoing the side panels and dash would be a very large job, very expensive and asked if I really wanted to tear apart my new car that much. But, said he would do it if I really wanted to.
Not only did his "advice" scare me, but also it did not instill great confidence in me in deciding to use his shop. It seems like a bad idea to use a shop to do work they trying to discouraging you from doing. However, I respected and appreciated his candor and honesty.
Has anyone found a shop more optimistic about re-upholstering side door panels and the dash?
THX.
I had the same experience: I went to a well-known upholstery shop who brought me down the street to the mechanic's shop who they use to remove and reinstall seats, consoles, etc. and the owner of that shop discouraged me ad said he wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole due to all the computers that would need to be reset once stuff was unplugged and plugged back in. Being a stubborn person who doesn't like to take "No" for an answer, I mentioned it to Ben, owner of Wheels Boutique in Miami who assured me that taking apart and reinstalling the interior is no big deal and that he'd get the work done for me, so I entrusted it to him and never even met the actual upholsterer he contracted with. I just sent Ben photos of interiors I liked and where I wanted the suede and where I wanted the stitching and the result was nothing less than fantastic! Too bad you're on the west coast because I can't recommend his shop any higher, but surely there are shops out west that can do the same for you and not be prohibitively expensive. If I had ordered my car from Audi and they had offered a suede-trimmed interior for $6400 and a suede wheel for $1300, I'd have bought that option but since I bought my car off the showroom floor, I had to do it aftermarket. So, I encourage you to keep looking and asking and you should find a shop in the LA area. Good luck!
