Replace V10 side blades with V8 ?

Hi guys

Anyone know if it is possible to fix V8 side blades onto a V10 car?

I've seen threads on here suggesting the reverse is possible but wondered if it can be done the other way around.

Basically my V10 has ice silver sideblades but I have an opportunity to replace them with new carbon sigma ones taken from a V8.

I know the air intake is greater on a V10; is this down to the shape of the side blade or the vehicle?

The seller is telling me they are fully compatible but I don't just want to take his word for it

Four things for you to consider:

1. Why on earth?

2. Why buy if you can most definitely find a swap? Try the parts section on the site.

3. They are fully compatible with the associated plastic parts.

Audi says they were made bigger for more cooling. Do you really want to play with that?

I think you'd be mad to do that given the difference in airflow. trying to resell the car with v8 blades on a v10 would be a tall order too.

Jump to 02:12 and you can clearly see the difference in the shape; you are right, I definitely would not want to compromise air intake.

yeah, outside of the engine i'd say the blades are the most obvious difference - but I think they were just sharing what they found, which bodes well for the future.

i would not do the swap, main reason is the restricted air flow, they had massive problems to get the temps to the right levels while testing the cars around the track, that's why u have a bunch everywhere...and you would need to have the little fender ( air intakes mesh ) too since the v8 once are smaller ... wait untill u snatch a v10 blades

Problem solved at a fraction of the cost!

Had the silver blades coated in a carbon fibre wrap yesterday, will post pics shortly.
