Audi R8 VentureShield Clear Bra Kit

The price is $230.00 for the whole front end.
The material is listed as VentureShield™ 8ml Clear Bra Paint Protection Film
Does anybody have any experience with these kits / material ?

My clear bra installer uses VentureShield himself (although I do not know the thickness). He hand cuts it from a huge sheet, and does an incredible job as to barely even being able to see the edges of the film.
He has told me the kits, (which are obviously pre-cut) fall short in this department. In other words, you will see all leading edges, and it just doesn't look like the custom job a car of this caliber deserves.

Maybe consider having the whole car wrapped in Satin Guard. I have yet to see a product that is superior to this.

While $230 may be a good deal for the material, it is hard to know the quality of the design it is cut with. Design of the kit plays a major role in how the finished product looks on the car. For example, you can buy kits that are designed to wrap all possible edges (pretty much everything on the hood and many places on the bumper), or you could end up with a design that has none of that.

The main difference though is in the engineering of the design. Some patterns are designed such that they must be tweaked and stretched needlessly, which causes imperfections in the surface of the film once installed. All designs for this car will require some stretching, but it should be only the absolute minimum required to eliminate wrinkles over the compound curves of the panel it is designed for.

Some designs out there will also have inconsistent tolerances around the edges of the panels, other designs will be right on the money. In short, a kit is only as good as the individual who designed it.

Also, don't forget the price companies charge for a clear bra is less about the material and more about the installation. It is similar to window tint in this way. While the material is not insignificant, it is a small part of the total price.

I will add that I had a pre-cut ventureshield kit installed from day one on my spyder. Had the entire front end, rockers, and rear bumper covered. While it has surely done its job in the 9k miles I have driven this year, I will likely have it pulled and re-wrapped soon from a custom cut installer.

Film has taken a beating from daily driving, but has done its job. But as mentioned previously, there are more seams and edges for dirt to get trapped in and fitment will never be perfect with pre-cut.

Have you had experience with Premier's satin guard? I'm looking to have my entire car wrapped in satin film. To my knowledge, only 3M and Premier have this type of film. I'm debating whether to pony up for a roll of Satin Guard, as it is pretty steep and is not warranted unless installed in a Premier facility. Unfortunately, there are no Premier shops on the east coast

I have my Phantom Black Pearl 2010 totally wrapped in Premier's Satin Guard except for the grills, side blades and spoilers. To my eyes it looks fantastic. Highly recommended.
Xpel also has a product that will render the car 'matte'; it's called Stealth.
