Anyone wrap sideblades in 3m carbon wrap?

I'm thinking this might be a good idea instead of spending $6,000 on carbon blades. This 3m stuff with clear coat on it looks almost identical to real carbon fiber. Thoughts? One pic I was able to find of it on a WRX STI:

I wanted to try this out also - but I think I'd miss my silver blades.

I've seen a local one that was matte black with matte carbon wrap - it looks good, but you can see the folds at the edge when looking closely. I am not a fan of matte wrap CF, I think glossy would look better

Good thing about it is that its reversible. I agree with you, I don't like matte either. If I were to do it, I would tell them to apply clearcoat over it. I'm surprised more people don't do it, I can't justify spending $6k on carbon blades personally.

That CF w/ clearcoat is nice. I wonder if it is the MATTE or GLOSS wrap that has been cleared over. I think that the matte looks better/more REAL, than the gloss wrap I have played with.

I think the way to go is Matte plus clearcoat over it. Maybe even 2 or 3 coats clearcoat.

Re: Anyone wrap sideblades in 3m carbon wrap?

I just recently did mine. I have ice silver with the oxygen blades. Like you, I could not justify spending the 5k (mine is a V8). I live in LA and had Sticker City in Sherman Oaks do it. I do not know if it is 3M or not but it came out great! I would not clear coat it though. I went with a semi-gloss but they also showed me high gloss as well. Your can just buy it already coated. The semi gloss blends fine and does not look matte. It's a nice blend. Only cost me $250 and of course if I get tired of it I can just take it off. It looks pretty **** close to the real thing. I am contemplating doing the side door sills next. I would not do it on any plastic parts though. Engine, vents, etc. I say go for it, but make sure they do super high end cars!

I think carbon sticker makes our car looks cheap, maybe I seen too many civic guys use those. If you want different contrast, I would say go with black instead of carbon print.

depends how it's done. if done professionally with decent wrap, it should not look any different than the real cf blades.
