Hood Rings

Just got my new rings and R8 emblems, having them painted matt black. Now the question replace or leave off the front. How many of you took them off your car. Also got my new floor matts, Black with the Audi Rings and Audi in silver and R8 in red have the factory grommets, Thanks to the guys at WestWind European. Will post pics.

Removing the rings was my very first mod. On your red car, black emblems will look sweet . Thinking Porsche Guards Red with all black trim. All the rage a few years ago.(and making a comeback). Welkom to the site.

I'm kind'a in the same boat as you:
The rings and V10 emblems are off now due to a recent entire hood clear bra installation; it looks OK without them, but will probably reinstall to retain a factory appearance...but then again I could remove the emblems on the rear for a completely shaved look...

Hmmmm, what to do...

I'm in the same boat, I think I may leave the front rings off for the clean look and have the rears done in black to match my wheels and trim. I am contemplating a complete re-wrap in satin 3m clear film... only worry is I use the trunk quite often and the rings are my point of contact.

I know a lot of folks like the badge free look, but whenever I see a de-badged car, the first thought which comes to mind is "rebuilt wreck." You might think about putting the rings back on before selling.

ignomini, IMO you're spot on.

The dealership's parts department called a couple hours ago and the new emblems should finally arrive Wednesday; if time permits I should have them back in place sometime Thursday afternoon...one more week, then no more "rebuilt wreck" look for me!

R8nJax, I was going to remove the front rings, and then, if they leave a mark, replace them with the black ones I just got painted. The rear R8 and rings will definitely be replaced with black ones.

However, I like Ignomini's point about the "wreck", so I may just go ahead and put the black rings up front. Plus, I've replaced my front grille with an all black one, so the black look will be "integrated". Just like in the back, where I've replaced the exhaust vent strips in black, so it will be even more "integrated" there.

My vote is to keep the rings. Don't personally care for the de-badged, salvaged look without them.
