Congrats on your new arrival...whilst the is r8 is not the very quickest in the car park they are so richly rewarding to drive.

Not sure of your location but if you have a chance drive it thru Jebel Hafeet Mountain and keep the rev range between 5-7 k...engine is in a sweet spot and pulls hard.

Re: My R8 Just Arrived :D (Dubai)

    Thanks a lot everyone,

Thanks for the tip I was already definitely planning on taking it up to Jebel Hafeet as soon as I get a chance, first time I'll be driving there but the pictures of that road speak for themselves

I'm really happy with how Jet blue / carbon side blades has turned out, I hadn't actually seen a jet blue when I ordered it (it seems white, black and daytona grey are the top colors by a landslide).

Glad to finally be joining the R8 club

Well reporting back after 525 km

    Wow.

It seems that every day you just learn to respect the R8s capabilities more, at first it was the engine sound, the beautiful focused interior, then the way it changes gears.. and finally the unstoppable turning grip... I managed to be lucky enough to run into another R8 owner and the road and we did a bit of formation driving Needless to say pedestrians looked pretty awe-struck.

    Absolutely in love with it.

Very nice RAPTOR. We have similar taste. I just got conf. today that mine was assigned a vin# and should hit stateside in 3 weeks. I too chose Jet-blue/carbon fiber SB/--I applaud your blue stitching! VERY VERY COOL. Was that your idea? I myself went custom interior--MAGNOLIA which is a ivory-cream sort of color. I chose black with Magnolia piping, stitching, etc.---please post more pics---I'm curious to see it in the sun. Congrats MAN!!!!

Re: My R8 Just Arrived :D (Dubai)

    Sounds great
We certainly do, I personally felt the interior had to be based in black, because the shape of the car is about as modern and futuristic as possible. So brown leathers and things like that just wouldn't really do it justice I'd say (great for a red ferrari, but not quite R8).

The stitching itself was my idea yes Though a highly helpful sales executive at Audi over here suggested the exact shade (Victoria Blue).

I think the Magnolia stitching should come out beautifully since you'll get a really heavy contrast from the black and yet it won't be overpowering (in the way that having..say half-white half-black seats would be).

Jet blue really is an interesting color, it manages to look completely different in different lighting situations. Overcast/cloudy skies tend to make it look almost as if it matches the sky, bright days give it a much more vivid blue and after the sun goes down it doesn't look that far removed from gray. I considered a lot of colors on the way to deciding upon it but I personally have never looked back since it arrived. I'm personally not much of a fan at all of white cars (there just seem to be so many of them), silver/grey are very R8 but because of that everyone orders them, and black while being menacing masks a lot of the features that make the R8 really distinctive (the fins, and often the sideblades too). Red was too.. 'I want a ferrari'. I've yet to encounter anyone else with a jet blue R8 and so far everyone I've shown it to has said "I love the color" within about 60 seconds

I'll take it out for some pictures tomorrow, so long as it's sunny (should be, this is the desert after all).

Though I'll first have to get it's oil topped up, just told me it's low
