I would go with matte colored monoblock wheels only on the R8. Three piece wheels look too retro and too busy for the R8's modern look.

I've seen two flat paint jobs in person (a dark gray Lexus LF-A and a black Mercedes SL550). In my view, the finish looks much better in photos than in reality. The way it mutes the reflection of light actually draws more attention to marks or imperfections than a gloss paint job, the higher reflectivity of which creates more visual distraction.

Also, the dulling agents can soften the paint somewhat, so it might be more prone to scratches. I have a feeling keeping this kind of finish looking good would be far more trouble than the look is worth . . . even if one really likes the look.

This color would be great in gloss.
