Hankook Evos tires handle monsoons just fine.

Here are a few pics taken at Patagonia Lake, Ariz... yesterday. The 3 mile road to the lake is always empty - a racers' dream...not the smoothest tarmak, but awesome none the less. My freind prefers the jeep, she says...(probably 'cuz it is not fast)... . It only Monsoons for a few hours a day here. But the Hankook Evo V12 tyres shed the water beautifully. \"/ Did I get lucky or what...the sky blue in window area. Ummm... did I say you could lean on that ? In the few years I have been cumming here, I've seen no horses. NOW would you PLEASE lean on that thing ! ....PIECE-OUT !!

    Always enjoy your posts Harrison.

Shame your piece of racers road only covers 3 miles..we have some great mountain back roads here that go for miles and miles.

One special piece that goes for around 30km's has seen me blast a Gallardo Superlegga,F430 spyder and GT3 along with the R8 and Gt-r.

We need to live the dream..but keep it safe and for the track

the hankooks were terrible imo (very quiet and smooth, but no grip compared to the OEMs). i bought those because i was turning in the V8 soon and didn't want to turn it in with bald tires (and wanted some inexpensive rubber). they are perfect for an A4, but i didn't like them on the R8 one bit. ran them for 1K miles. the bald OEMs were grippier in the dry than the new H's, in fact.

nice pics. looks like a nice drive, though.

Personally I wouldn't put second quality tyres on my car, no offence, just doesn't seem right to me. Everytime I see one of those detailed test, the 2nd and 3rd quality brands can't stand the detail comparisons - some of the wet and braking tests are pretty scary...

Lightbulb Re: Hankook Evos tires handle monsoons just fine.

Hi Ian. The Hankooks only get used for rain days. They might be considered a 5th runner up tire. Not bad considering the many options. Hoosier Slicks,(or any slick) are wonderful, and I hope you get to experience an R8 with warmed up race slicks. Then you will really enjoy an R8 driving experience. (Desparado was right when he said : "Race tires are like HEROIN,you will get hooked"). I did,so much so, that I run 'em as a daily driver tire. The ultimate in safety. Given the right conditions. I tracked the Hankooks-ONCE. They were definitely better than my worn, STOCK, Pirellis. The Corsas' were my favourite non slick race tire, but were TERRIBLE when cold. (takes longer than most tires to warm up too). You know how hard it would be to get a tire warmed up, in the rain, especially in your land. I find it interesting that using winter tyres during the summer is ILLEGAL. (at least in Germany). The winter tyres with all that siping, and softness...What is the harm to the tarmak?? And I agree with you RXGB...A worn performance tire could be better than a new EVO in the dry. And Gazza, 3 miles with no worries of another vehicle or large animal is super sweet, (In a different state, Arizona, 500 miles from my local canyon in Cali.) if only a short set of twisties. But remember , I have been stung by the coppers, and have learned (finally) to take my agressions out on a track. My choice for a winter tire. Weak sauce Cali and Az. winters...NO snow !!!! I was sad to see this set die. My tires do wear out evenly...unless the track has mostly right hand turns, like Buttonwillow raceway track configuratin,13 cw.(Clockwise,to the right, to the right). And when the weather gets too severe...

See you got the Audi centre caps now, much butchery to get them to fit. And, like the 'used' Hoosiers, now THAT's taking them to the edge ;-)

Don't tell Rich at OEMpLUS, but... a swift hit with a rubber mallet seated the Audi cap nicely ! Another trick of mine you might say. There was NO WAY I was going to modify the SL wheels to fit a frivolous piece like this. As Rich suggested. \"/ If I were in Merry 'Ol England, I think the Hankooks would work just fine. (RAINY DAYS) - BUT some day, I'll make it a point to make the dash from Heathrow/Gatwik to Dover on slicks.
