I'm considering having my wheels painted black (not matte, something more metallic looking), or a very very dark metallic grey. Any thoughts?

A color that works well on a Jet Blues' wheels can be seen in my gallery. It is a Stock Lamborghini, SL, Scorpius wheel color. Sort of a gun metal grey with blue/grey metallics. It works for me. And my calipers are still hammertone silver. I am still chicken to go bright orange, yellow, or red !! Try to get your finish done in powder coat so you don't freak out from paint chips. (I do).(hope that the powder coating heat doesn't weaken the wheeels!) One of my smoke chromed stockies broke at the track. Audi only re-imbursed me 50%, as they think the chroming process MAY have weakened the wheel.

Raptor09, your car looks amazing, that color was high on my list but I bought a silver one. I had Brian at Rotiform powder coat my wheels in Titan Grey.

They turned out perfect and they're great folks to work with. About 2/3 the cost of painting as well.

Wow those powder-coated wheels look great in the picture! I'll send you a PM. The black/silver combo on your car looks very nice, I wish I didn't have to mount a front license plate (Or I could..get a black one..)

Jet blue is great, over here in Dubai we (oddly) have very few cars in ice silver - so few in fact that I've seen more jet blue cars (Something I never expected). I've also seen 3 other R8s which are jet blue with carbon fiber sideblades but only 1 that was jet blue with the stock silver sideblades (I can happily take credit for starting the blue/black trend over here, when I ordered the car the dealer assured me noone else in the GCC area had ordered one in the same color combination at the time - clearly some people liked it

I remember your wheel story Harrison and seeing the dark chrome color you had (Very nice while it lasted!) - that and a number of articles & comments I've read (some from people quite deep in the wheel industry) have made me a bit wary of powder coating. Since a lot seems to rely on the people having the right equipment to do it without using very high heat and be able to monitor exactly how hot the metal is getting, test the hardness after the process etc. I think my peace of mind would probably be better if I just got them painted (as I'm not sure about the workmanship levels in general, and the only place I trust doesn't do powdercoating)
