    My Black Widow R8

Here is a list of the mods done:
    - Smoked side markers and taillights
    - All emblems painted body color
    - Front chrome grill painted body color
    - Fuel filler door painted body color
    - License plate frame painted body color
    - Wheels powder coated phantom black semi-gloss, with matching center caps
    - Custom Black Widow mark painted on rear in crimson blood red metallic

Here is a list of mods that should be finished up in the next week:
    - Window Tint with a titanium black/gray ceramic film
    - Custom Floor mats with a black widow embroidered on them

    --
My license plate says BLKWDW, it's just not on the car in these pictures, but here are a couple of shots right after I got it back from the shop recently.

When the car is completely done, with mats/windows etc.. I'll post some updated pics.

It looks great although I think the A-pillars have to be black too. They stand out too much otherwise IMO. Your spyder is similar to what club411's V8 looks like.

    Very nice work.

The wheels are matched to the paint the best they could. Powder coating isn't a "perfect" science, so although they used the same paint codes and pigment colors as Phantom Black, it's not completely identical. In person however, it's almost impossible to see the difference, they look body color, they just don't look metallic, they look semi-gloss which is what I wanted.

As for the pillars, we went back and forth on this a number of times. The problem with painting the pillars is given the texture and material that Audi uses they may be highly prone to rock chips if painted over, and the last thing I want is silver showing through Phantom Black if a rock knicks the pillar. So we opted to keep them as is for now.

The alternative however is they can be vinyl wrapped in any color. We're experimenting with that, but the vinyl company was able to produce a carbon fiber look which is pretty sweet. I'm not sure yet on what we're going to do with it. The vinyl wrap stuff has come a long way from 5 years ago, they can do some pretty impressive stuff now.

For the time being we're going to enjoy the car (the wife and I), then figure out if we want to tweak the appearance a bit more as the weather improves in the coming months.

At the end of the day, this car is really hers. I've got my own garage toys. However, I can't get enough of the R8, it's a real blast to drive.

We should respect other's tastes... that said, not to my liking either. The blacking out is incomplete with the pillars still brushed aluminum... Even if though, I think it would look better unblacked.

    Re: My Black Widow R8

To be honest, I myself dislike blacked out cars, but really this car was more of a project for the wife. If it were mine, I would have bought a coupe, and gone a different route. But she's a huge arachnid lover .. and so we took the Black Widow concept and ran with it.

After having done it.. I must say the pictures do it no justice, it looks pretty fantastic in person... and even me not liking blacked out cars, it's starting to grow on me.

I prefer the black/silver/shiny look myself, which is how I've done the car I drive
