The R8 GT does have a roll bar. Few things are easier than buying a racing harness and then attaching it to the roll bar. But such harnesses are not usually worn for normal street driving. LOL... But you could! I'm sure they could also be added to Bentleys.

Does anyone know how to add the racing harness to a stock seat? i have the 2009, no roll bar or anything

There is currently only one commercially available aftermarket product available for mounting shoulder harnesses in the R8. German tuner PPI makes a roll hoop / harness bar. It is available in North America from their dealers; R8Talk sponsor OEMplus is a PPI dealer. There is a nice photo on their website and there are also some threads on this site.

The R8 GT has a roll bar. It may soon be available in N.A. from importers of European parts such as OEMplus and Europrice (again, both of whom are R8Talk sponsors), and even perhaps eventually from your Audi Dealer's parts department.

Finally, I think it is okay to reveal that Brey-Krause (www.bkauto.com) is indeed developing a harness bar for the R8. I don't have any details other than they expect to have a retail product sometime in 2011. I heard they were planning to fit their first prototype to a customer car in late December. (Maybe the B-K R8 test mule is one of our member's cars? If so we'd all love to hear more details!)
