R8 Spyder Pictures - Nothing Special

Wanted to post some pictures of an R8 Spyder - nothing specail just trying to break up the
weekend a bit and thought people might enjoy soem eye candy. The only thing that I can't
decide is if I like the polished wheels, they are growing on me but I just don't know for sure.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

    Thanks for the post

Has anyone get closer up shots of the whole car with the high Gloss Y spoke?

Just an opinion here and don't get me wrong- I love the Spyder. But, remember when you first saw a R8?
What was the first thing you noticed? The Blade. At first I didn't get it but it grew on me. Now, I really like it and in my opinion the larger the contrast from the rest of the car the more I like it.
I wish there was a way to incorporate a Blade ( yes, I know it would have to be smaller) but some of the Spyders seem too unicolor- need something to break it up.

Beautiful car. To this day though, the V10 wheels just don't do it for me, polished or otherwise.

Certainly, +1. That's the first thing that caught my eye, then the whole front fascia with all those "fangs".

This fan-art concept has been floating around for a while.

I think the R8 without the blade was what the original designers lamented in a way to brake up the continuous space back in the original R8 design. I've never cared for spyders, accept for the F430 Scuderia I make an exception.

As I mentioned in the LED headlight thread, funny how my tastes change over time. I was gaga over the V10 wheels at first but over time I think they are far too busy and are distracting to the rest of the car.

One thing that strikes me as a tiny blemish on the front are the round parts where I'm guessing headlamp cleaning unit is supposed to go out from for cars with the Xenon option.

I'd pay something for two pieces of plastic without this round part on them. It just hits me every time on an otherwise perfect front.

Re: R8 Spyder Pictures - Nothing Special

Drjrg, like many others around here, I am in the market for a used R8. It was either that or an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I have since ruled out the vantage due to a lack of dealers in my area. But during the process, I showed at least 8 people pictures of both cars side by side (on a computer of course) and EVERY single one of them chose the vantage over the R8. When I asked why, they all said the same thing, "The vantage flows" When I asked what was it about the R8 that they didn't like EVERY single one of them said that "blade thing". I must agree with them to some extent. From certain angles the R8 actually looks disjointed. Follow the roof line back to where it meets the rear window and you'll see what I mean. I'm sure that small shelf was put in to provide for the third brake light but maybe it could have been put somewhere else to avoid this look.

I like a more subtle contrast between the blade and the car. Like Carbon Fiber and phantom black.
