Need pic of Carbon Fiber Door Sills

Dear fellow R8 owners,

If anyone has OEM Carbon Fiber door sills on their R8 please put up pics, preferably of both the driver's side and the passenger's side. I'm going to C.F. wrap my standard sills and need good pics to see the direction of the threads.

Just make the weave flow with the rest of your C.F. as best as possible...which is what Audi does.

I tried wrapping mine and totally wrecked my standard sidesteps, so ended up just buying the carbon ones. How are you going to remove the silver bits with the R8 logo? I got them off but they wont come off without bending them outta shape. Good luck with it tho I hope it works better than it did for me. I will take some pics of my sidesteps today for you.

Thanks a lot! The guy at the workshop assured me that the metal bits are thick enough to remove safely - fingers crossed I guess they have some kind of technology for it - maybe they heat them up at first to soften the glue...

Heat gun from the back side should loosen the sticky stuff well enough. A wide, smooth wedge worked from one end, along with the heat, should allow them to be peeled off w/o any damage - they'll curl, but nothing that can't be put back and held in place with high quality double sided tape.

Carbon wrap is good but skinning with real carbon fibre is even better

That's the way I'm doing it - with real carbon fiber. The whole process takes about 2 weeks (the parts have to dry after each stage of coating). The sills should look very similar to OEM CF sills (if not exactly the same) .
