    Watkins Glen Video

First time at Watkins Glen. NEQ Event. Green run group. Weather first day rainy, overcast 82-85F. Weather day 2 overcast-clear 88-92F. Stock car, Michelin Super Sport Tires 29psi frt, 30psi rear. Contour HD camera.

    Videos are long, 25-28 minutes.
Wind noise-elimination from camera without sacrificing too much sound? any suggestions?
Don't bash me too hard; I will always take suggestions and constructive criticism...can't get better if I do not listen.

Looked like you had a blast. I wish I could drive this track.

You seemed to get smoother as you got into each session. Early on you were a little jerky, but you fixed that as you made more laps. I have been advised to keep my thumbs against the yoke on the steering wheel. You may have better control with this positioning of your hands. Every session is a learning experience for me.

Why don't you come up to Road America August 8-9th?

It seems you are using a Contour HD camera, a windscreen will reduce wind noise significantly but I don't know if anyone does one for your camera so try wrapping a sock around the back of the camera like this guy did:

The alternative would be to use a separate audio recorder like the Zoom H1 with a furryhead windscreen to eliminate wind noise.

I have the same problem with my audio with a GoPro HD in the R8. The ****pit of the R8 is dreadful with the windows down. Not sure how fast you got going, but when I go over 220kph the buffeting inside the car is bad. My helmet gets shaken all over. All I can suggest for audio is getting a separate audio recorder as already mentioned and post process the audio and replace it.

I agree on the hand position. I will try to add that to my focus next time out. The smoothness is definitely something that I really tried to work on during the sessions; having the instructor there helped.

Road America is definitely a track that I would like to do, unfortunately I will be in Florida during that time. Here in Indy, it is hard to find like minded people who want to have the track experience vs having a nice car for the sake of having a nice car. I am currently trying to put together a group that will try and hit a couple of the major tracks each season...it's just getting over the drive out to the track that holds them back. 10+ hours to Watkins Glen; about the same to Road America I think. Thanks for the advice and I will gladly take as much as you or anyone else would like to give.
