    New to the forums

I would like to introduce myself as a new owner of a 2010 R8 5.2 V10 manual trans. I took delivery of the car earlier this month and I have been nothing short of grins the whole time. I found the car used with 3,500 miles out of California and found it to be in immaculate condition, both inside and out.

Having previously owned a heavily modified 2007 C6 Z06 with 550 RWHP, I was in the market for a change for the better; not just related to auto performance, but also to drivability, design and class. I have found the answer in the R8.

I am very impressed with the stance and style; with the drivability and handling and with the general feel of the car on the road. It has tremendous pull in all gears and is drivable on a daily basis if desired. It amazes me how one can drive the vehicle nice and calm, and at will, have the ability to unleash its true potential.

Although I am saddened to have let my C6 Z06 step into the hands of a new owner, I am proud to say that I own a car that is sought and desired by many car enthusiasts world wide.

Below is a picture of the R8 being picked up and transported away in Cali and the second pic is that of the R8 arriving in Lubbock, Texas.

    Cheers all,

    George

    Hi George,

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the new car. I see that the girls approve, too!

You will find yourself among like-minded owners here, and I look forward to your thoughtful contributions to the conversation.

Regarding your Corvette: besides my 2009 supercharged R8 V8, I also have a 2010 ZR1. Similar RWHP to your modded Z06. Both are great cars, but the R8 wins easily for the best overall package. You can see some photos of both together here: www.r8talk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4766.

    Again, welcome!

Welcome to the forum George and Congratulations on your purchase.

I am sure like a lot of us here..you will find the R8 V10 rewards in so many good ways.

If you have any questions there is a lot of great stuff posted in this forum along with a lot of knowledgeable members.

As a first off..check out the APR ecu upgrade which works great on the V10 and maybe a exhaust mod if you are so inclined.

Good starting points are AWE Tuning,Tubi,Capristo.

Also ironic that the 911 in the same photo of your R8 is in its rightful place compared to the R8...in the background.

Thank you Desperado, it's a great feeling to say the least. I like your collection and I'm an avid fan of corvettes. Your ZR1 is identical to my friends. It is insanely fast and has so much torque. I'm sure your supercharged R8 4.2 can keep pace with or pull away from the Z from a roll. There is no sense in discussing 0-60 lol, its all quattro! As you said, a GM is a GM, but gosh it's fast! At any rate, congrats on your lineup.

Sounds good and thanks for your input! I will more than likely install an aftermarket exhaust soon.

Hey George, Congrats on the purchase!

I made almost the identical purchase last month north of the border.
    A 2010 V10 6 spd. with 4800 miles on it.

The only difference is that it came with a few mods, most noticeable is the RSC exhaust.
This was apparently the subject vehicle used for their V10 exhaust prototype.

Although not as crazy loud as on the V8, it's still an attention getter. The jury's still out as to whether I can live with it. My 20 year old son says he loves the sound more than life itself!

Anyway, I'll enjoy following your mod developments.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Thank you gentlemen. I'm glad to have joined you all! Rtoon, how bad is the interior cabin noise (drone), if any, on the RSC exhaust?

As mentioned, it came with the exhaust, so I don't really have a before and after to compare, however, it's quite civilized in the lower rpm's. No drone at all.
