    Revís per mile on tires

    Hey everyone,

I just came over from the GTR world and that cars AWD system was finicky with tires with too much of a difference in RPMís. If there was too much difference you could burn up the AWD system. How strong is the AWD system in our R8ís? The R8 I picked up has 245/30/20ís in the front and 325/25/20ís in the rear. They are MP4Sís. The RPM are off a bit. More than the GTR would like. Am I running major risks in the R8? Thanks all....

You're fine with those sizes. Ideally, you want to stay between 2 - 3.3% with the R8 and you're sitting at 2.2%.

Hello fellow ex-GTR guy here as well.

Honestly don't know the threshold if it's an issue as I've kept stock tire sizes. Regardless, this DCT is much more advanced (at least on the Gen 2 (2016+)) than the GR6 from the R35 so I'm assuming it has tolerances that are much more relaxed than in the GT-R.

I know GTRs were pretty sensitive to the tire heights , front and back tires had to been pretty close to each other otherwise ETS clutches burned quick . I think Audi doesn't have the same issue , there is a pretty big difference in tire heights from the factory . Fronts 245/30/20 are 25.8 inches [ 806 RPM] , rears 305/30/20 are 27.2 inches [764 RPM]

Actually, the tire size difference between the front and rear of the R8 plays a role in the Quattro system's F:R torque variance. That's why I don't think it would be wise to get close to a 1:1 ratio. . .might suck.

They use a completely different type of Quattro system.
