Good price or wait? '15 V10 AT

First of all, please let me know if this type of post is shied upon and I will edit.

    2015 V10 AT
    Audi dealer (not CPO)
Full leather, black optic, carbon blade, painted calipers, no mods
    14K miles, no accidents
single owner for 3 yrs, bought and serviced at the same dealership
8 months left on factory warranty

The price is similar to comparable private cars (even '14s). It's the exact config I want (unless a unicorn MT shows up), and it's very close by. I could drive home with the car tomorrow.

===== Is the ~$10K in tax worth piece of mind and no hassles? =====

As Rowlf would say, should I wait for something better to come along? Or is a bird in the hand . . .

Counterpoint: 2011-12 are $95-100 right now (I figure Gen 1.5 nets ~$10K premium for the age, interior upgrades, and tranny). Mileage/owners/mods are across the board. All are out of town. Would have to set up PPI, warranty, possibly transport. I could always wrap a car if it's the wrong color.

    TIA.

Miles are good and help value over most 11-12's at this point. Audi dealer is a plus given the tires have been replaced, S-tronic has been serviced and the brake fluid has been flushed. There's also some opinion that the S-tronic is the best gearbox to have in the NA V10 beast that the R8 is. There are infinite arguments to be made about buying a car that you don't have to ship and can inspect in person as many times as you please.

Good luck! I really hope it works out for you. The car is so rewarding to operate.

Can I assume the dealer did all that? This isn't a CPO. The salesman was vague about the inspection process; sounds like they just threw it on the rack, took a look around, then sent it to the detailer. OTOH, it took 3 months to get from repurchase to dealer inventory, so they must have done something, I guess. I'll try to get more info from the dealership.

dont ever assume dealer do anything. they always try to minimize the amount of work they do just to get it move out the door for max profit. The fact they are not CPOing the car is just so they can keep the price low for a fast sale. No one is expecting a repeated business for a used car, they are really short sighted in general. Things are diff if you queue up to buy new cars from them over the years

I'm curious why it's not certified if it's at a dealer. But, in any case, you're hitting a lot of the right points, I think.

The facelift Gen-1 is, in my opinion, a nice place to be. You're getting the best of Gen-1 - every improvement, especially in 2015, which also came with some exclusive final year options (sport exhaust, painted calipers). Having a car, and the seller, nearby is a nice bonus versus going across the country, arranging a long distance PPI, and shipping costs/hassle, as of course. But you need to weigh that against whether it's the right car for you.

If you wanted an automated manual, the S-Tronic is brilliant. If you truly want a manual, well, it may not suffice. Only you can answer that one.

I do think the final two years (facelift) will continue to command a premium. For those who want a DCT, those are the only options for Gen-1. Likewise, with only two production years (and '15 was the lowest of ALL production year numbers by quite a bit), they're much fewer in number. Coupled with some nice aesthetic enhancements, improved leather coverage, lighting, trim pieces, it adds up to a noticeable difference on a well optioned car.

I bought my 2014 MY as a 3 year lease return and the Audi dealer did not certify the car either. Was told that certification cost the dealer $$ which would get passed on to buyer and since the car only had 4,500 miles and close to a year of remaining warranty it was not as important. I've had car almost 2 years now and no problems. I wouldn't be too concerned that car is not certified.

    Some updates and comments.

    - Sales manager says, even thought the frame issue doesn't affect Gen 1.5, they checked for it anyway. If I get the car, I'll unbutton the frunk and hold them to their word if there's a problem.

    - OC R8 is correct. They won't CPO cars under a certain mileage.

    - ezmass - Biased some?
It's pretty much the car for me, colors and all. I have a long history with VAG and have tracked a bunch with manual cars. But the MkVI/VII golf really sold me on the DSG. I'm getting old, kids keep me away from the track. Only canyon drives for the past year. Gimped left leg for a bit and couldn't drive the Beast for a month. Don't want to be trapped not driving the R8. S-tronic for me.

    - RickySixx6 - Thanx for the offer. There are a couple Gen 1 (not 1.5) MT's in my area, one with a prior accident and one modded up the wazoo. I think I've settled on a DSG for the above reasons.

Thanx for all the feedback. It's actually helped me a lot.

I bought a ‘15 V10 DSG a month ago under very similar circumstances.
Looked at MT, then found low mileage 15 at dealer within driving distance. No CPO. No regrets!!!

I have 5 cars with manual transmissions. This car needs a DSG! Like my Golf R.

    Awesome car.
