question for the 1st gen guys

Been having a hell of a frustrating time finding an aftermarket warranty. All their website reviews are great until you look at independent and BBB reviews plus the subjective terminologies in the contracts would make a lawyer cringe. That being said I figured I take another approach and look at the risk/reward ROI analysis.
    So the questions are.
What work have you had done whither it was covered under a warranty or not and at what mileage?
    Regards and thanks
    Mike

First R8. Full mag ride replacement at 19k. Same for second R8. Both replaced with coilovers, cost 3k both times. Second had both ECUs fail at 18k miles and cost 5k total. Third R8 had AC fail at 13k miles and cost over 5k. All are gen 1 pre-facift. First 2 were V8s, third is a V10.

Fidelity Platinum Warranty. Replaced both front struts at 55k, replaced O2 sensors twice at 64k,replaced cam position sensors at 64k. So to date I have been very impressed with this warranty.

    dertizjos,
How did you know your ECU's failed? I have a check engine light that no matter what I try will not go off. I have been told by 2x different mechanics it could be bad ECU's.
How did you prove and get them replaced under warranty? Thanks.

Poster on another thread mentioned that new Fidelity warranty policies specifically exclude all shocks/struts. Anyone looking to buy Fidelity warranty may want to confirm this.

    [email protected]

Contact him for a Fidelity warranty. I had a V8 for 3 years, had mag ride replaced twice, drivers door lock replaced once, and rear taillight LED burned out, also replaced. 100$ deductible

Whoever said Fidelity doesn't cover the mag ride is wrong, as it does. You have to claim them as magnetic struts, not shocks.

    I recently purchased a Platinum 10 year/ 100K warranty from Neil Brenner for 4117$, with 100$ deductible.

    Buy the Fidelity warranty.....
    Current: 12' R8 CF/Daytona V10 6MT
    ~VF/Hex tune~Avior Non-res~10mm Spulen spacers~CF S-wheel~
    ~OEM euro side mirrors~Xpel'd~Gated 6MT~No questions asked~

    Past:
    09' Daytona/CF R8 V8 6MT
    08' Daytona/Ti RS4 (dearly missed)
    05.5' Dolphin S4

    warranty: national

items repaired: door lock actuator, window regulator, gears that moves hvac flaps, hvac control module, replace oil pump drive shaft o-rings, updated ecu due to epc light, gear box sensor

i asked about extending the national warranty and was told they no longer cover R8s

    AJ,

Kept getting CEL and eventually car wouldn't start. End result, two bad ECUs. The dealer tool care of the cost since it started happening the day after I bought it.

ECUs are not cheap but if that turns out to be you issue, you can find them used.

Were yours ever opened for a tune? This seems to be the biggest reason they fail. Once the seal is broken water causes the damage. At least that is what I was told.
