JSK Racing GT Style Spoiler - Install?

I purchased a JSK Racing spoiler and the way it mounts is through the rear wind deflector mesh grill. I don't want to drill into the stock grill so I was thinking about cutting a piece that has holes large enough to fit the mounting screws through the holes. Anyone else install this before? If so, what did you do?

Re: JSK Racing GT Style Spoiler - Install?

I have the same wing just sitting around because of that issue. It's not actually a good fit on the car, but it was cheap. It doesn't center perfectly, and it doesn't sit on the rear spoiler thing correctly either. Because of the poor fitment, it's going to need something fabbed up, but I'm not sure exactly how/what just yet.

So, this post is probably zero help, but it turns out that I'm in the same boat as you for now. Trying to figure out how to get the wing installed.j...

You can remove the stock mesh and replace it with your own made mesh. That's probably what I would do so that it is reversible.

Any ideas as to making said mesh? I've been stumped for a while. Even tried to buy an extra one, but they aren't for sale separately...

I haven't tried to make one myself, but there are a good amount of videos about making custom grills. Same principle applies.

To make a grill is easy the problem is the spoiler mounts to it and it will rip off at high speeds.
If I were to mount if for a customer I would fiberglass the part over the OEM grill, reinforce it and them mount the grill onto one plane. Not partial like half grill and half OEM base.

For those of you who have seen the JSK spoiler in person will know what I am talking about right away

Yea I definitely would find a way to mount it to the car, not the mesh. I havent seen how these mount in person, but you dont want you wing to break off at high speeds.

I purchased a wing similar to yours on my first r8 and I bought some plastic mesh and cut it to dimension to preserve the original mesh.

The main issue that I had was with the spoiler holding bracket. After some high speed runs in Germany (150-190mph), I noticed that the bracket had put too much pressure on the original spoiler and had cracked it slightly.

I'm going to google now myself, but if you can rack your memory banks and dig up anything that will point to that mesh (or something like it), I'd really appreciate it.

Something like this.....just cut it to dimensions..

There is plenty of different patterns... you can use the original fixings to hold it in place.
