Our tuning software has full control over the pops/crackles as well as the valve behavior. No hardware modifications necessary. We also add up to 60 extra HP while we're at it.

You’ll get plenty of business when you tune the 2022’s remotely! Hard for most to drive over and don’t think most want to risk removing the ECUs themselves. Can’t wait, hopefully by summer it’s ready to go!

I was not aware of a remote tune. Can you elaborate on this? Is the tune and removing the tune done wirelessly? Is there a website I can follow?

Personally I always have the valves open, I’m using a Kline Inconel and it’s the perfect amount of loudness, tone, etc. I’d probably use the valves if I had a Quicksilver exhaust though, that sucker is LOUD. Kline does get very loud and high pitched when you give it all the power, but at lower speeds it’s manageable. I will say people turn their heads even with casual driving now that the valves are open. Before the car was pretty stealth since the valves were always forced closed around city speeds so that may or may not be a con, hard to not hear it now especially since at 4000RPM the inconel x pipe creates a very unique pitch that you don’t really hear on other R8s or Huracans. The pitch is really piercing versus raw loud.
I had a Kline SS on my 2018. Very happy with it. I had a valve controller so I could manually lock the valves open. I drove with valves open 100% of the time.

On my 22 I went QuickSilver. LOUD. Too loud, honestly. The Kline had nice harmonics, QS is just LOUD.

Either way, a valve controller on the 22 is a MUST. Driving an R8 that is whisper quiet is boring.

I made a video of the stock sport exhaust with the valve button open. You hear it stays shut under 5k RPM - quiet - loud - quiet.

The QS valves closed does sound good. But open is only for open area hooligan driving. Where the Kline was never too loud in the cabin with valves open.

I am adding a CETE as well.

I'm considering a Kline Inconel, but I wonder if its worth the extra $$$ over the stainless - does it sound that much better?

VF Engineering offers a kit where you connect your laptop directly to the OBD port on your car and then flash your car with the tune. Can go back to stock or tune at your convenience without having to go to a shop. When a new model year comes out, usually takes 3-6 months to “hack” the ECU so it can done remotely. Else you have to have the tuner open your ECU which bypasses the remote access encryption, but that is done at the shop. Long story short, VF should have a remote option hopefully by Summer.

Agreed, Quicksilver is just too loud and raw versus a nice pitch/tone. I prefer Capristo over QS in that sense.

In terms of inconel versus SS, I believe the upgrade is worth it. The weight savings alone is solid. In terms of the tone/pitch, it’s definitely higher pitched and “pierces” the air. Even in idle it just pierces through your ears and borderline hurts your ears/head if you’re just standing by the car outside of it. It’s not necessarily because it’s loud (definitely louder than stock sport exhaust, 40-50% more sound), but because the tone that is produced.

I know it sounds weird, but I’ve never seen an exhaust do that before, especially in idle. Lots of people are intrigued by it and have had a lot of other exotic car owners look into Kline as a result.

To defend the QS a bit... the QS sounds better than my SS Kline when running with the valves closed, actually get some nice sounds at low RPM. And it sounds better than the SS Kline at the top end or WOT (IMO). However its the in between driving - hustling the car, where I miss the Kline's tone with valves open. Can't have it all I guess :)

Haven’t tested individual mode yet, no mention of it on the product page either so I’m guessing it acts as OEM
How do you switch between "OEM" and "CETE" modes? Do you long press the ESP button?

Oh, and how do you start the car with valves closed :)

Got mine installed today. Works well with the QS. Valves closed is almost as loud as the Kline SS with valves open.

There is no OEM or CETE mode. CETE is always there unless you disable after you start the car via ESP double tap. OEM behavior for the valves is Auto mode which you can open or close valves as well via the factory steering wheel button. Dynamic and Performance Dry has the valves open all the time.

Starting the car with valves closed isn’t an option as the controller always uses the standard Auto mode when you turn the car on since that is the default mode of the car on startup. The programmable one allows you set the valve opening and closing based on speed or RPM after the car is already on via the app.

Excellent. I will reach out when the beast comes in.
Exotic power and performance in Austin didn’t work out. Pricing started getting really shady when asking about other exhaust brands he didn’t recommend even though they were the same price on the exhaust manufacturers’ website. I’m working with blackjack Speedshop shop in San Antonio now. They actually have a different customer with a 2022 R8 getting a Fabspeed exhaust installed next week and they are going to give me a call after it’s installed so I can listen to it on the car before deciding which exhaust I want to go with.

Good. Please update when you know more about BlackJack results. I've heard mixed reviews about them, but would like to have Timmy's shop be good.

I’m not looking for super loud. Would you say Kline sounded good and louder than stock but not too loud? Was there any drone with valves closed or opened?

did you do the install? How hard was it? Mine shipped the other day and it appears I have to tap a wire?

Here is my exchange with the manufacturer -
Hello, I finally have the CETE installed. Works great. And I helped 2 other R8 members to buy theirs as well.

Questions -

  1. How do I change between OEM and CETE mode? I tried to watch this video, but its in German. Do I change by a long press of the ESP button two times?
  2. How am I able to get the car to start in comfort mode, with the valves closed to keep the "cold start" as quiet as possible. Force valves closed. Do I simply stay in comfort mode when I shut the car off?
Thank you.
thank you for your mail and your feedback.

1. Hold ESP until OFF and press then on immediately
2. Correctly, you stay in comfort mode when you shut the car off so next start is with the valves closed

Kline SS sounds great. I had it on my 18 RWS, no OEM sport exhaust which was stupid quiet and boring to drive. Zero drone with Kline, I drove with the valves locked open 100% of the time. You can close the valves shut, which is quieter than my Q8. Its louder than stock, but in a good way. With an exotic tone. Its a safe choice for sure. My QS on the other hand, isn't for everybody lol.

Sounds great. Kline would be perfect for me.
