2023 R8 GT PPF and other things

So my new GT is supposed to arrive in the next three weeks and I am going to do a full ceramic and PPF coating. Have y'all found it better to go through a local highly rated company to do this or does Audi offer these services/is it worth it to pay them to do it? Also, any other thing you would add on when I go and buy the car like tire protection etc.? Never had an Audi product before and want to be prepared for when I go in and negotiate. Thanks!

I'm sure the dealership just subcontracts out the Ceramic and PPF anyway. You will be better off dealing directly with the PPF company if things need to get fixed.

Find a good detail shop to perform the work. I would not get Audi involved.

I'm not sure where you are located, but I use Detailed Designs in Conyers, GA for all of my PPF and ceramic coatings on my cars. They use Modesta coatings which I have been thrilled with for many years.

I just got full ppf recently and xpel has a product called fusion that has ceramic coating infused. Works well and for me the cost ends up being less than getting ppf and coating separately. Something to look into.

that sounds like some marketing snake oil. You're telling me it's a lifetime ceramic coating infused into the PPF?

Not life time. I believe it's 4 years guarantee which is no different than a typical coating. I'll just get another coating in 5 years and still come out on top in terms of cost is how I think about it.

I just washed my car and it definitely beads without a separate ceramic coating applied. We will see how long it lasts and if it lasts as long as advertised.

Thought I'll give the OP an option to look into.

Take your car to a reputable detail shop to have the PPF and ceramic coating done. I took mine to a detailer that I’ve used several times.
I didn’t add the dealer wheel and tire package because it only covers the oem wheels. The only thing that I added was Audi Care. I think that is worth it.

That is helpful. And if I am changing nothing about the car, do you think it is worth getting the wheel and tire package?

Depends how often do you hit potholes lol
You’re just buying insurance. It’s hard to guess whether you’ll end up needing to file a claim

Just a question. Why would you put PPF and ceramic coating on PPF?
My detailer that did PPF on my Spyder said, it is not needed to ceramic coat a PPF. It's a self healing PPF which shoud stay good for long time. He said to maybe put a ceramic coating after few years.
When I wash the car, water really flows off nicely and I don't see any need for ceramic coating.

Make absolutely certain you use a reputable shop and then verify their work on your car when you pick it up. I heard of a decennium edition that had it's clear coat DESTROYED because the ppf installer trimmed too deeply and cut into the paint. An R8 especially a GT is no place to gamble with the lowest bid. I have not ceramic coated any of my PPF and I've never once though I needed to. And I track and drive the crap out of my r8.

Congrats on the GT purchase. Welcome to the R8 Family.
I would have it delivered straight to the shop that will perform the PPF installation.

It depends on where you live. People that live up north in the US typically get it because of the road conditions. Their roads tend to have more potholes due to the weather. If you typically drive on nice roads then I wouldn’t worry about adding it.
