Hi,
Chose my specs on Fri 12th and was told that Fri was deadline by my local dealer. However since discovering this excellent forum I have read that the deadline may be later , therefore I may be able to change a few things.
As it stands -Black/manual, sat/nav, upgraded stereo , CD, bluetooth, cruise, alu gear knob pedals
I have gone for the black alcantara/leather on seats option thinking it would be more grippy but I am having second thoughts that the alcantara might be fragile or stain easily- any views or experience here.
Thanks

yeah take full leather... alcantara as you say is grippy, if you can get a hold of the bucket seats , you dont really need more grip.. and this alcantara imo can get easily "worn out" and you will leave your mark behind ... so i'd rather have the alcantara on the roof and nowhere else...

same for color of leather seats, allthough colored seat might be tempting.. i always choose dark interior .. so you dont risk of sitting in your brown , beige or grey seats with bluejeans, and then suddenly the color comes of the jeans or similar.. you never know... call me paranoid but i like me driver cabin to be fresh n clean

If it is TRUE alcantara then it will never stain or wear out. It is a special synthetic material that is MORE expensive than leather. Also, it breaths unlike leather.

You should be able to confirm your order before your car enters the build stage ... and if new options are available before your car enters the build process, you should be able to add them to your order ... likewise you should be able to make any adjustments to your order if it is not exactly as you want it.

What is the commitment on the initial order? I presume you can completely revise the spec, and if so why are they asking for the spec at all? Why not just the increased deposit.

I have had black alcantara in my TT for 7 years + (36,000 miles) + Allroad for 3 years + (46,000 miles). No wear or staining, best interior options I have ever had.

Plus points:-
Better grip, warmer in winter, cooler in summer, less sticky (breathable), still wipe clean, because it is synthetic, great contrast to rest of leather in car.

Shame the steering wheel is not alcantara?!?!?!?
Negative points:-

Can't think of any !!!!!!!!!

I also have black leathered 911 (30,000 miles) always looks scuffed and shows every mark.

For your info I have chosen black alcantara interior with roof lining + extended leather.

Probably so some been counter can arrange the inital material orders and stock of parts!!!! We can't all change our spec 100% or can we ???? Could then result in a delay for your production slot if the bean counters don't get the right bits and bobs for the initial orders.

Just for your info-you can not choose alcantara with extended leather package. If you choose extended leather package-everything is in leather then, including seats! Paul also confirmed that with his dealer.

So, check with your dealer again. He is trying to sell you impossible option.

BTW, you can choose alcantar roofliner with extended leather.

I was told this and did note Paul's thread, but the Audi offical lauch brochure & site pdf shows it as an order option code JN

JN is just code for Black Alcantara/Leather seats(code N7U) but, extended leather code is PL3 and it is LEATHER ONLY PACKAGE.

Sorry but, your dealer is completely wrong...

Thanks for clarification, yet again Audi giving very misleading information

I just hope that they can amend their specs before final production, can not see why not, this type of combination is possible in other models.

That is correct. It is even more expensive. And that is why I like the joke of paying extra for full leather seats.

In my S4 I've the Leather/Alcantara combination and it doesn't wear or stain. It is still like new. I drove through the MC-Drive many times :)

Plus, don't forget: ever tried to sit down on your seat in the middle of the summer with the burning sun and your shorts on? That is burning hot man!

No, I stick to alcantara, IMHO it looks more classy, it is more grippy, not to hot in summer and i'm sure it will look fabulous in combination with the alcantara roof option. Alcantara should be on the doors aswell and it will make a stunning harmonial combination with the roof option.

And you're more exclusive because like Kreso said 90% will choose the leather option, making the leather common en the alcantara more exclusive!

So, Those of you who are big fans of alcantara (as myself) - will you sacrifice the the extended leather package to have alcantara

or

play safe with all leather so you can have the extended leather?

Would this have any effect on residuals or ease of selling at a later date?

Just have done. Ordered the alcantara without extended leather but with carbon fibre interior. Best interior I ever had was an S3 with alcantara leather mix.

I don't want the extended leather (besides it costs here € 8.500,- extra!), I do not dislike the material Audi uses for the dashboard, it looks fine.

And I still think the all alcantara interior (with the roof) will look fabulous!

Wow!!! That is more than double the UK option of £2500 !!!!

For €8500 you could retrim the entire car....

Appreciate your comments.

The car is also more expensive here... Base price without options is € 146.000,- That is € 44.000,-, more than in Germany. For the same car!

The government are thieves here :(

I think for the saving I would either imigrate or buy a UK car and put up with the steering wheel being on the wrong side !!!!!!

Base price in UK is £76,725 or €115,000 and this is with a higher base spec than you would get in Germany.

By the way all governments are thieves, some just to it more than others !!!

There is always the highly exclusive ... and highly costly course of action and ...
Spec extended leather package with Alcatara roof ... then ...
Get the door panels and seats re-trimed with Alcantara in the appropriate places ...

I'm sure it would be rather costly ... but you'd end up with a rather unique car ... work seems to be heading in the right direction at present ... and if it continues to do so ... I might yet go down this road ... mad I know ... but hey, I'd get the best of both worlds ... imho.

Here in the States, I'm going to try a different way: going to order Nappa Leather/Alcantara pkg. w/Alcantara headliner and the Carbon Interior pak, thus getting Alcantara on the seats where I value it, then go to specialist trimmer and have the instrument panel covered in matching Alcantara. Had a 360CS that way; great combination.

At this date in the US tho, the dealers have almost NO real information: the entire list of info is 12 small lines of type covering 1/3 of an A4 sheet!
