I'm inches away from buying a perfect 2015 R8 V10 7500 miles I found, it's perfect and excellent condition, still has 3 months of factory warranty left!
I asked the F&I guy about the extended warranty, here's what they offered below.
5 Years 60K Fidelity $5050
5 Years 60K Audi Pure Protection Platinum $5500
It seems to go to be true.
Will these cover the common issues such as, MagRide, AC, engine replacement that's happened and other common problems the R8's have?
Please let me know soon, your help is much appreciated and I'm hoping to be part of this community!
I would go with the APP Platinum - which is consequently what I have on my 2015 V10. I purchased it in almost exactly the scenario you mentioned - about 3 months prior to factory warranty expiring. APP would typically quote years / mileage from in-service. So, I got a 10 year / 100k mile / $0 deductible plan - essentially good for 6 years after the factory warranty expired and up to a total of 100k miles. Mine was $5,200. Prices have definitely gone up, though, so even at 60k miles for 9 years (5 after warranty, I assume), you're getting a killer price. When the car goes out of warranty, the prices presumably go much higher - so best to act.
As far as coverage, I feel APP has a slight edge - or at least it did when I bought last year. They specifically call out shocks as covered, whereas Fidelity has not historically covered shocks (technically - although various members have had luck getting them covered by ensuring they're called "struts" by the shop). The Platinum plan is exclusionary, and very little ISN'T covered.
Suspension coverage from my APP fine print:
Exclusions:
I'd check the fine print on the current version of the contract, though - again, mine was from last year so some of this may have changed since then.
Than you, great info, but I'm reading in the group APP gets out of replacing the shocks sometimes by saying it's wear & tear, I'm kind of worried on this, thoughts?
Congrats on the possible purchase youll be smiling ear to ear hopefully soon
Ill add with Fidelity they cover the Mag Ride as long as you talk with your service person and have them put the claim in as a Strut Assembly and not a Shock numerous people on here have gotten all four replaced 10k cost.
I have Fidelity and ill say this they have been excellent not one complaint I made a good relationship with my Audi Service Rep hes a great guy and he knows the routine with the file process and they actually covered a part on my car that is in the service contract that they said they don't because the way my service guy presentedit too them that it was because another part within this part caused it too fail Fidelity paid up and it wasn't cheap no questions asked.
Also check with Neil Brenner with Audi Indianapolis his contact is on there webpage hes the F&I there and sells Fidelity you might get a better quote from him on that vehicle you are looking at his rep on here is well known and a great guy.
Strut or damper will work for wording. I’ve had replaced twice using that wording. The advantage with a Fidelity warranty is the 10 year is actually 10 years from purchase of the warranty, meaning I’m covered till April 2029, Or the odometer ticks over 109,000 mi.
X2 on calling Neil Brenner. I shopped around a little but took this forums advice and got a hold of Neil, he got me a 6 year platinum PLUS audi care for less than my dealership was trying to sell a 5-year to me for.
He's at an Audi dealership so he's as legit as they come. Guy is straight forward too, makes me wish I lived in Indy I'd have his dealership do all my Audicare & warranty work.
Based on your recommendations I got in touch with Neil on my 2011 5.2 with 45,000 miles. Neil offered me the highest level fidelity plan for only $250 more than others we offering me on a midlevel plan. He is legit.
Please help. I just got off the phone with Andrew at Indianapolis Audi (Neil's on vacation) Andrew tells me that neither Audi nor Fidelity will write an extended warranty for a Spyder - which I own. Does anyone out there have a recommendation for me? Appreciate it. Joe 2015 V10 Spyder.
That’s true. Neil asked me if mine was a spyder and said he wouldn’t give a warranty if it was. Mine isn’t so I didn’t research any further. Good luck with finding an alternative. Maybe cold call another company? JMNA is owned by the same parent but maybe they will give you an option.
I think so. I live in Houston and bought a warranty from Audi Indianapolis. I have it serviced at my local Audi dealership here in Houston. You should be good to go.
