We've had fantastic feedback on our Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust system for its sophisticated note. Our quad resonators do a great job of unleashing power while encouraging a refined tone. Now, with the press of a button, you can unleash an even more aggressive level of presence. Unleash the full roar of your 4.2L V8 through 70mm straight pipes!

SOUND: Fabspeed's unique valve design provides two very distinct sound modes.

VALVES CLOSED - Exhaust gases are channeled through Fabspeed's signature 63.5mm Quad-Resonated X-pipe. We engineered it specifically to smooth out exhaust pulses for a sophisticated, exotic, and distinctly European exhaust note while being as free flowing as possible. The tone is perfect for cruising around town or on long highway drives, with no droning at any RPM.

VALVES OPEN - Exhaust gases are free to flow straight from the engine unmuffled through 70mm dump tubes with a snarling aggressive scream. The full fury of the 4.2L engine is unleashed with a thunderous and distinct V8 roar accompanied by an intoxicating and menacing burble upon deceleration and a nice bark when downshifting. In-cabin tone is fantastic with no drone; you can freely have a conversation with your passenger as all heads on the block turn in your direction.

WEIGHT: Our Valvetronic X-Pipe System removes a total of 38lbs from the rear, a rather significant amount to improve handling and acceleration.

POWER: The dyno chart below is a comparison between a 2009 R8 V8 that was completely stock, followed by the addition of our Valvetronic X-Pipe Exhaust System. All testing was done on our in-house Dynojet. We saw gains of 9whp and 12 ft/lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. Peak gains were 5whp and 5 ft/lbs of torque.

Don’t just take our word for it! Here’s what the latest R8 owner had to say after stopping by to have his R8 V8 transformed with a Fabspeed Valvetronic exhaust:

"What a ride home!! How can you smile for 2-1/2 hours straight? Along with buying a new Fabspeed Valvetronic Exhaust for my 2009 Audi R8 V8, I'm now going to need plastic surgery to unfreeze my face. The sound of my car is absolutely AMAZING. My car is a 2009 and it drove like a 2016 model that I just picked up from the factory in Germany. Wow!!
Where do I start? I traveled about 2-1/2 hours to get to Fabspeed and it was more than worth the trip. From the moment I arrived, everyone, and I mean everyone, took an interest in me and my car. Your staff couldn't have been more welcoming and I could immediately see that this was the Fabspeed culture. I knew that putting an exhaust on an R8 was a difficult job (something like 230 screws), so I wanted to have this work done by true professionals and your staff was fantastic. I stayed in a hotel down the street while the work was being done and to be honest, I couldn't sleep at all with anticipation of what the next day was going to bring. When I showed up at around 10 am, your technicians were almost complete with the installation. I left for some business meetings and when I came back around 3 pm my car was being dyno tested. That was a true thrill. The sound level rivaled a 747 taking off. WOW!!
I love the new Fabspeed Valvetronic Exhaust for my R8. I love that when the valves are closed, it sounds great and gives the car a very "alive" sound. When it's opened (with the included key fob), the sound is absolutely beyond words. I truly have never heard anything like it before and all your techs said the same thing. They were all smiling. The coolest thing is that I actually met the fellow that handmade my exhaust system and he was just as happy as I was.
I am totally thrilled about Fabspeed. I'm thrilled that I supported a quality American company that makes amazing products and more importantly, cares so much about their customers.
Thank you Fabspeed for making me so HAPPY!!"

Thank you very much! We try to find two unique sounds out of every valvetronic exhaust that we design. Often times we go for a large delta in volume between valves closed and valves open. With the R8 V8, we focused more on tone. With valves closed, the tone is very European, very refined. With valves open, more of the V8 rumble and a hint of American muscle comes through in addition to increased volume. More authority. The best part is there is no drone with either selection, we tuned out any undesirable frequencies and the R8 is also well sound deadened.

The valves are operated by our valve controller. We were not able to incorporate operation of the valves via throttle position / back pressure and it would not really play into the ability to switch between the two offered tones.

Hi Nick,

Is the valved Fabspeed exhaust connected to the factory valve/vacuum controller and the remote control switch is spliced in to activate it?

Can the factory valve controller open and close the Fabspeed exhaust without installing the aftermarket remote and retain the original function of the valve controlled by the ECU?

Thanks,
Howie

Howie,

Most of my customer are running our valve controller so you can lock the valves open or closed. I do not believe the V8's stock valve system is compatible with our Valved Supersport X-Pipe.

You'll have to install our vacuum valve controller.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks Nick. I was hoping to reuse the factory vacuum valve controller for the valves to be controlled by the ECU. Thanks for the clarification. Cheers. Howie

Hi Nick,

There's some confusion about which aftermarket valved exhausts will work with the factory vacuum solenoid.

I read that as long as an aftermarket exhaust valve is vacuum actuated, it should work with the factory vacuum solenoid without any aftermarket valve remote control?

Looking at the Fabspeed R8 V8 Valvetronic X-Pipe Exhaust, it appears to be a vacuum actuated valve? As such, won't connecting the factory vacuum hose and OE vacuum solenoid onto the Fabspeed valve work without installing the Fabspeed remote?

Does the Fabspeed vacuum valve work differently than the OE valve?

Also, can I custom order the R8 V8 Valvetronic X-Pipe Exhaust to fit my 2008 model but have the end pipes the same as the GT Valvetronic exhaust version?

My rear bumper is the facelift version with the single round tips same as the GT exhaust tips. Would be good to have a single end pipe vs the dual pipes squeeze together to fit the single round tips.

I'm ready to order. Cheers.

I did a bit more recon, and also have a 2014 in the shop right now. Our system CAN be controlled by the stock vacuum controller BUT unlike the Lamborghini's you cannot lock the valves open. The main reason for the valve controller we offer is to open and close the valves with a push of a button and lock them in either position. If you install our exhaust and connect to the stock vacuum controller they will function like stock.

I hope that cleared up any confusion and thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I'm going to shoot you a PM right now to help get this ordered up!

Thanks Nick. Appreciate you looking into the OE valve actuation.

My rear bumper is the same as the 2014 you have in your shop so the single end pipe measurements to the round tips should be the same.

The mounting points would be the same as the pre facelift 2008 R8 V8.

So can I order the V8 exhaust in the same design with the single end pipes like the GT Valvetronic exhaust?

Cheers, Howie

Howie,

It will be a first but I think we can make it happen. The problem is that there are differences between V8 and V10 in the exhaust, I'm goint to work with my R and D department to get an answer for you.

Thanks Nick. Would be great to be the first pre facelift V8 to have this Valvetronic exhaust with the single end pipes.

I'll be sure to do a proper review of it and promote it to my R8 Club in Malaysia/Singapore/Thailand. Majority of the R8 here in Asia have the V8 engine.

I can trigger a few sales in this configuration once my buddies with the facelift bumpers hear it in person. ;)
