A few years ago I did some research into the 2014 numbers via title records, and these are what I came up with. Unfortunately there are no further breakdowns other than bodystyle and transmission.

Here's a bit of data for 2014 that I received from Audi if you're documenting:

• 194 - 2014 Audi R8 V8 Coupe Quattro S Tronic sold in the U.S.
• 45 - 2014 Audi R8 V8 Coupe Quattro S Tronic with the Phantom Black Pearl Effect exterior sold in the U.S.
• 31 - 2014 Audi R8 V8 Coupe Quattro S Tronic with the Phantom Black Pearl Effect exterior and Black interior sold in the U.S.

Thanks - good to see the 194 number matches up. The title search returns pretty accurate results, but sometimes one manages to escape being counted.
Also of note - AoA's numbers are not 100% infallible - because they are sales figures rather than production figures, they suffer from reporting lag, sometimes measured in years. For a car as old as 2014, things should be pretty well sorted out, but some of the more recent stuff keeps going up even though the cars are out of production.

You were able to tally and cross check title/registrations?

Your qty. 247 '14 V10 Coupe Auto is correct:

• 247 -2014 Audi R8 sold in the U.S.
• 38 - 2014 Audi R8 with the Daytona Gray Pearl Effect exterior sold in the U.S.
• 8 - 2014 Audi R8 with the Daytona Gray Pearl Effect exterior and Black/Red stitching interior sold in the U.S.

Because Audi Sport VINs are sequential, it's a pretty simple process for anyone willing to put in the time.

If you have 2015 numbers, I'd be interested to see how they compare with the sales numbers. What system are you using to look at registrations? I would have thought this would be state by state...

The information is consolidated into nationwide databases - think Carfax or AutoCheck for example. You don't even need to see the specific records, which are behind a paywall - if a VIN has history available to purchase, a car exists for that VIN and it can be added to the production total.

ezmaass is correct. Just email your VIN to Auditalk and they will give you the US sales numbers. This is the response I received in August when I inquired about mine.

"Regrettably, I am not aware of any website where the production and sales information can be accessed. However, I'm happy to provide the information listed in my system. I have also included information about similar R8s of that model year sold in the U.S. While we cannot determine sales numbers for vehicles with similar packages and options, I hope you find the information that I am able to provide useful.

Our records reflect the following sales numbers for 2017 R8 models built for the U.S. market:

• 485 - 2017 Audi R8s sold in the U.S.
• 29 - 2017 Audi R8s with the Dynamite Red exterior sold in the U.S.
• 2 - 2017 Audi R8s with the Dynamite Red exterior and Rotor Gray interior sold in the U.S.

These numbers match what I have through my own research, but it should be noted that they only apply to the V10 Coupe, not the total production.
The 2 Dynamite/Rotor cars were both sold in Texas - 901067 went to Audi Plano and 905106 went to Audi Dallas.

Do you have these similar statistics for the other Gen 1 production years?

I also did 2008 and 2009 because they are relatively simple, with a minimum of bodystyles and trim levels. As the years progress, you end up having to run many more searches to cover everything because the lineup got increasingly complex.

Thank you, Good to know! Mine was the one that went to Audi Plano. So are you saying that there could be other 2017 Dynamite/Rotor Plus, Spyders or RWS's?

Other 2017 Dynamite/Rotor numbers:
V10 Spyder - 1 (there were only 2 Dynamite of any kind as the Spyder was a late addition)
V10 Plus Coupe - 2 (1 PL8, 1 7HD)
RWS - not introduced until MY 2018

A few things to know about 2015:
--During the year, there was a plant change from the main line at Neckarsulm to the dedicated facility at Heilbronn still in use today. This occurred between VINs 000715 (a US car) and 000716 (an EU car)
--There were also a couple color changes during the year. Florett Silver replaced Ice Silver and Mythos Black replaced Phantom Black. This led to some cars in these colors being classified as Audi Exclusive if they were ordered outside the window when the color was a standard choice.
--Documenting Audi Exclusive interiors is a black art. The info provided in some cases may be incomplete or even inaccurate. If a car doesn't have photographs, you are at the mercy of whatever skecthy information was provided by AoA at the time.
--Some cars that were picked up through the European Delivery Program may say USA delivery because that info is not consistently available.
--The entire VIN list of Canadian cars is also included, but unfortunately there are zero details other than that.

Finally, a big thank you goes to RNLabas for providing much of the info on the Audi Exclusive colors.

You mention photos - did the original data include factory photos?

Unfortunately, the only pics I have of 2015 Audi Exclusive R8s are from when they pop up as used cars, and by now some of those are modded heavily. Others have yet to surface at all and are still with their original owners. I was late to the 1st-gen party, otherwise I would have collected dealer photographs from brand-new listings...but even then most AE cars are pre-sold and don't get photos.
