Never owned a paddle shift R8 but on my RS5 if I use the paddles to shift when I'm in Auto it will go back to auto, well eventually, seems to take a long time. Is it same on R8? On my Huracan it goes back to auto within a couple seconds

The R8 (at least the gen2) is different - as soon as you touch a paddle it will remain in manual mode - no time limit.

All other semi-auto / double clutch cars I've owned behave like your Huracan and will revert back to auto as long as the shifter is in the auto position.
