I'm interested in purchasing a low mileage '12 or '14 V10 Spyder. Looking for Ibis White or Daytona Pearl Gray. Looking for input on the differences of the R vs S Tronic, any price info anyone may have, and of course if you're aware of one for sale.

Thank you!

I was in the same boat about 2 months ago. I ended up getting a 2011 5.2 Spyder instead of the same color 2014 with roughly the same 12,000 miles. I saved about $27,000 at the time and later figured out the previous owner added about $18k of carbon fiber. I have never driven the s-tronic, but honestly love the r-tronic (don't know any better). I continually look for excuses to drive the car and have since put on 1,800 miles. Tough decision, but $27k was a big enough difference for me to go the cheaper route.

Did you end up purchasing a warranty for the 2011 and if so through who? I was told that fidelity does not cover the spyder by FD-warranty.

Rtronic single clutch....like bmw smg
Stronic dual clutch ...more smoother.
I like the single clutch systems since they mimic manual
Pretty good.
I personally have a real manual 2011 spyder...which is a pleasure to drive.

This is pretty much correct.

If you don't drive a manual, and don't enjoy a manual, get the S-tronic. That's what I think most ppl who want a nice fast car would opt for.

If you're a true manual enthusiast, you'll LOVE the manual-like up & down shifts of the R-tronic. IMO. It IS an electronically controlled clutch manual trans.

It's unfortunately the R-tronic got a bad rap just cuz of 1-2 poor reviews from ppl wanting silky smooth shifts like Porsche's PDK. It's that type of thinking that is phasing out manual transmissions altogether. And its us diehard manual fans that are rallying to keep manuals alive...

I got my warranty via Audi of NOLA- 6yr/60k mile back in June. Mine isn't in your preferred color, but I think Sepang Blue is great.. my car is in mint condition. Bought it in such and immediately added a clear bra as I didn't want to risk catching a stone.

I'd think about the exhaust as well. I really love the GMG exhaust - only comparison is my stock exhaust. It is amazingly exotic.

stick is the only option for me vs the r-tronic & most likely the s-tronic mainly bc the audi gated is the best manual experience I've encountered.

I have a 14 Daytona V10 Spyder with the Stronic with about 4500 miles for sale. It was a 186 MSRP and has a killer exhaust on it. Feel free to call or message me at 770.655.2382 and I would be happy to send pics and info.

Garrett at Audi Atlanta is a good man who will steer you in the right direction. He probably sells more R8's than anyone in the country! You are in good hands dealing with him.
