I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a 10p Seal - 10 hour labour gearbox out jobby or not?

Dragging this one out from the archives, as I have discovered I have the exact same issue when I removed my airbox.
Whilst I am in there I would like to replace the seal but don't know if this is a simple job. Anyone done this?

Mine (2010 manual V10) has a thin coating of oil on it as well. It was dry last year when I changed the gearbox oil and bled the clutch. Any help appreciated.

So it is possible to rebuild. You need to buy the seal and have some specialist tools to dismantle the unit, but I have done it and it’s all back together. Reason it fails is the unit is sat right under the exhaust silencer and has no heat shield so the seal dries out.
I am going to make a little heat shield to prevent it happening again.

Thank you for posting this, I've recently changed the same seal and your pictures were very helpful!

I did find the original seal to be a very peculiar size so opted to try a seal 1mm thicker. As the original one sits within the casting, the new one just sits flush instead.
For anyone else thinking of doing this or having it done, make sure a picture is taken of the selector mechanism before undoing the bolt to remove the shaft! There's some play in the selectors before the bolt is tightened so if not back in the same place could result in gears being in the wrong place or it not going into gear at all. It won't do any harm but will mean taking everything off again to readjust.

Hello mate. Did you get this part from TPS? Do they recognise the BISL part number above? I can't find it in any internet search. My car is in with this problem right now and needs this part to fix it!
